The Reason

3rd POV

On the very edge of existence we see a black void. A portal the forms which Deus floats out of. Dropping Faunus he places his hand on his heart.

Deus: "Withdraw."

Faunus' body morphs into smoke that spirals into Deus' hand.

Deus: "Transmute."

He opens his hand. All seven keys glow and float into a circle above Deus.

Deus: "Creation, Life, Darkness, Time, Life, Death... Harmony. With these keys I hereby shatter all seven shackles and command the light beyond to be mine!!!"

A massive stone door appears. Each of the seven keys flies into a slot. They all glow blindingly. The door finally opens, showing nothing but a blinding light. Deus floats towards it.

*meanwhile Faunus POV*

I sigh feeling a crushing sense of nothingness.

Faunus: *monotone* "So this is the void. It's... quiet."

I once more sigh, letting the nothingness further sink in.

Faunus: "I failed."

???: "Not yet my child."

Faunus: "Who said that?"

???: "Twas I, Creator."

Faunus: "How're you speaking to me?"

Creator: "That's not important. What is is that you wake up and fight Deus."

Faunus: "I can't. I'm trapped here."

Creator: "You can break free."

Faunus: "How?"

Creator: "Because you're special."

Faunus: "I'm not special. I'm nothing but a freak experiment that somehow someway succeeded."

Creator: "Why do you think you succeeded?"

Faunus: "Because of chance."

Creator: "No. Because you are the embodiment of harmony."

Faunus: "I... don't understand."

Creator: "Do you remember when John told you the first time Deus was defeated?"

Faunus: "Yes. Various creations stood up to him and banished him."

Creator: "Yes. But there was one that stood out. The one who caused him the most pain. That creation was Harmony."

There's a brief pause.

Creator: "Deus is a being of pure chaos. He uses it to draw strength and fuel his power. That is why he lost. Because Harmony had want he always dreamed of, control. After he was beat Harmony spread his essence into the cosmos. Over the eons that essence waited for the perfect host. One who would have first hand experience with chaos. That power is now within you. That is why you succeeded. And that is how you will beat Deus."

I take in his information. A spark starts to flicker within me. The crushing sense of nothingness fades. That spark turns to a massive raging inferno. I then smile as the void is replaced by light.

3rd POV

As Deus floats towards the door he's stopped in his tracks. Looking over his shoulder he's met with a right hook to the face. He enters the door causing the area to become bathed in light.

Faunus POV

The light fades allowing me to take in my surroundings. Looking around all I see is a cracked soil terrain for as far as the eye can see. Looking at the sky I see it to be clear blue with a sun that somehow doesn't give off any heat.

Faunus: "What the heck is this place?"

???: "Realm Zero."

Looking forward I see Deus just staring blankly into the distance.

Deus: "Beautiful isn't it? But it's so mind boggling. Everything we know came from here, from nothing. But looks are often deceiving."
