(Y/n)'s Point Of View
After my punishment, I was given some kind of herbal gel to apply on my body. I was then helped by two female servants with spreading it across the entirety of my exposed skin. Every inch of me that was submerged in the boiling water was red and sensitive by the time the six minutes was up, but as Uraume had promised, I did not scar, peel or blister. It just made my skin feel like it had been scrubbed raw. Even my hands hurt which made me realise that it would make it hard to write later on.
When I put my clothes back on, I found Uraume and we went through my training all over again in great detail which took an hour of my day. After, she allowed me to go my own way again. I spent the rest of the day translating scroll after scroll at my little station. I took regular breaks because my fingers felt like they were sizzling everytime I touched them against a brush or scroll. Gripping was painful and it made me take much longer to translate a single scroll than I should.
Every hour, I took a few minutes to go outside to check the time of day so that I knew when to leave the scroll room, as part of the rules said that I had to leave by nine pm as that was around the time Lord Sukuna chose to do his reading. So when it hit around nine pm, I grabbed all my equipment and took it all out into the corridoor the same way I did it yesterday. I spread everything across the floor and continued my translating there.
Every half an hour or so, I'd take a break and use my own personal scroll to paint small pictures. I loved every second of today, despite the punishment. My job was calming and it made me feel just a bit closer to my mother in a way. She used to paint too during her breaks. She'd come home with a new portrait of me every few days, each with me showcasing a different emotion. The ones that I loved the most were the ones of me smiling, as that was what I wish I could do the most.
I began drawing my mother, drawing the only image of her that I had never seen before. Her smile. I bet it was beautiful. As I perfected the way the way the corner of her lips lifted, I heard a set of footsteps that made me pause my paint strokes. Before I could put down my brush, I heard a gruff huff of annoyance.
"Why are you here, woman? Surely Uraume has informed you that you are not to be in this room, and even more so from nine to three." A certain Lord growled."She did. But my Lord, I am not in the scroll room. I am in the hallway. That is not against the rules." I replied to the man, finally looking up to meet his angry gaze. He bit the inside of his cheek angrily as he stared down me.
"And the fact that you are talking to me? What excuse do you have for that insolent behavior?" Sukuna asked with a raised brow, challengingly."But you spoke to me first, my lord? You asked me a question. Would have rathered that I ignore you?" I asked him, making him inhale deeply with anger.
"You can not kill her, Sukuna. The price for breaking the pact would not be worth her death." The Lord hissed to himself, confusing me. Sukuna walked passed me and into the scroll room, refusing to look at me or speak to me anymore because it was clearly infuriating him.I swivelled around where I'd been sitting, now angling myself so that I could see into the scroll room as he was in it. I watched eagerly as he pulled out one of my newer scrolls that I'd completed this morning. This was the first scroll that he was reading that was translated by me and not my mother. I gulped as I watched him closely, staring at him as he sat down and unclasped the tie around the scroll. He leaned back into his seat as he read, sighing loudly.
"If that annoying itch I feel is your eyes boring into my side then I suggest averting your gaze before I throw you into the mouth of a curse. It is not me who will be killing you if it is a curse that sinks it's teeth into your neck." Sukuna mused. It sounded to me like he's already found many ways around the pact he'd made with Uraume- something my mother mentioned to me once. If he broke the pact, his jujutsu would be stripped from him.
"I'm sorry, my Lord. It's just...I wonder. That scroll your reading, is it up to your standards? The handwriting? Does it seem off in anyway?" I asked him curiously, making him growl before slamming the scroll down against the table with pure fury.
"Are you daft? Hasn't Uraume gone through the rules twice with you already? Did she not already deliver a punishment to you for breaking the rules? Are you that desperate for pain?!" Sukuna hissed venomously."You do not speak to me unless you have been spoken to! You do not look at me- ever!" Sukuna growled, making the girl purse her lips together.
"I'd I waited for you to start a conversation, I'd be mute my whole life." I muttered, making him scoff.
"Maybe that's how you should be." He muttered under his breath as he settled back into his chair."I'm sorry if I've upset you, Lord Sukuna." I replied, bowing my head to him. That seemed like the last straw, settling him off as he launched out of his chair with a loud sneer, throwing a few scrolls to the floor. I'd pick them up later.
"Okay, what is wrong with you?" He suddenly asked angrily, walking towards me with disgust. What's wrong with me?
"What do you mean?" I asked him innocently."You do not fear me and you do not lust for me. Those are the only two options for women in positions like yours." Sukuna told me, glaring down at me.
"I guess I don't lust for you...because I have never felt lust before." I admitted, "And I do not fear you because I feel like I've known you for years.""We met only a day ago." Sukuna scoffed dryly, as if I'd lost my mind. He was correct, though. We'd met physically yesterday. But not mentally.
"My mother has been talking about you for much longer." I told him softly. He scoffed with amusement.
"So you're here because mommy's obsessed with me?" Sukuna mocked. I don't think he expected me to nod in reply, expexting to hurt my feelings."I guess you could say that. But it is her adoration for you that awakened admiration within me." I replied. Sukuna was about to reply when the sound of a loud crack errupted through my ears. I could tell that it wasn't thunder. But the noise back me flinch back as if it was, holding my hands above my head protectively as if I were in danger. Deja vu swirled within me.
"That was the sound of a curse being exorsised. You might want to get used to that if you're going to continue bothering me at night." Sukuna told me, scoffing at my weakness. He rolled his eyes before turning on his heel and walking away, leaving me to exhale and inhale sharply and attempt to steady my breathing. But it was hard. I could hear Sukuna scoff again as he got further and further away, muttering to himself,
"Practically scared of her own shadow and yet I'm where she draws the line?"
