After a while, Leon comes out from behind the curtain, revealing himself in a police uniform. He stood in front of Megan, "Well? How do I look?" Wanting to know if this is how they both envisioned him. Megan glanced up to get a better look, her eyes gazing up and down at his uniform. She couldn't help but admire how he looked she almost spoke her mind, "You look cu— Cool! You look cool."
She cleared her throat at her slip of the tongue, quickly turning away to hide a blush that was threatening to appear on her cheeks. She never felt more stupid than she did before. Leon gave her a warm smile and headed over to Marvin, who was on the computer. "Does anyone know what started this?" He asked Marvin.
"Not a clue. But honestly, all you need to know is that this place will eat you alive if you aren't careful."
"Yeah... well, I was supposed to start last week and I got a call to stay away. I wish I'd come here sooner," Leon sighed. Megan felt a bit confused, didn't he tell them he got an email? There was no mention of a call that he made to them. Was it sudden and he decided to write them back? She wanted to ask but didn't, there's no point in it.
But what irked her more was the idea that Leon came sooner than later, would she realize that he'd be walking into his own grave? Would he notice himself? Or that if she one day decides to visit, will she discover him as the walking dead? More hypothetical scenarios linger which caused more distress, she takes another deep breath to calm herself. No use making herself panic for a what-if question.
"You're here now, Leon. That's all that matters," Marvin reassured, his gaze went to Megan's, "You sure you're okay with not having any gear? There should be one more uniform somewhere in the station that you can use. I just want you to be safe."
Megan nods, "I'll be okay. All the training I received in the police academy has given me the strength and willpower to be where I am today. I just... wished I brought my gun, I'm basically an easy target at this point..."
Leon hands over his gun to her, "Here, I still have some bullets left. Besides Marvin gave me another gun for me to use, take it so you won't feel so defenseless."
"Thanks... the last thing I need to feel is being a liability in this situation."
He then faced towards Marvin, "Ok, Lieutenant, I'm ready."
Marvin nods, "Hopefully, you two will be able to find a way out of this station. That officer you met earlier—Elliot," he opens the notebook with the secret passage written and drawn down, "He thought this secret passageway might do the trick."
The two looked over, Leon's lips curled to a small smile, "This is good news. We can get you to a hospital."
Megan nods, "Yeah, they'll patch you up and—"
"No, no, I am not the priority here." Marvin insists.
Leon narrowed his brow, "Lieutenant, I'm not just gonna leave you here—"
"I'm giving you an order, rookie!" Marvin shouted, silencing any chance of protest. It was clear that he meant business, "You save yourself first. I'd come with you, but I'd just slow you down..."
He then weakly gets up, "Now... you'll need this." He takes out his combat knife, handing it over to Leon.
Taken aback by his suggestion, it felt a bit wrong to take it, "I can't take—"
"Stop."
His voice was firm and final, there was no use in arguing over it. He wanted them safe, after all, he is doing his duty as a lieutenant. Leon takes the knife from him, but Marvin leans in, "And don't make my mistake. If you see one of those things—uniform or not— you do not hesitate. You take it out... or you run. Got it!?"
