Back at the Andersons', Grace was finishing up the soup as the three were chatting in the living room. "Alice dear, can you help prepare the table?" Megan quickly stood up, "I can help, I don't mind." Grace softly smiled as Megan made her way over to the dining table. Leon couldn't help, but watch her leave, catching Alice's attention.

She can see how he saw Megan, and with a curious smile, she asks, "So, are you gonna miss her when you leave for Raccoon City?"

Leon was caught off guard by her sudden question, "What? Of course I will. But I'm also happy for her. She's finally going to her dream job..." he lowered his gaze to his hands that are closed together, he wasn't sure if this was a good idea to ask but he decided anyway, "Hey, Alice."

"Hm?"

"I uh... want to ask you for some advice on something."

Alice turned over to face him on the couch, "Oh? Do tell."

"It's regarding my girlfriend." He hesitated, "I don't know if I'm going to be happy with her. I mean— Yeah. I'll see her when we move to Raccoon City. But not like together- no. I was just... I've got a lot on my mind. And it's not just cause of the delay of me going there, but with Dad being in the hospital and Megan I—" he stops himself and sighs with frustration, "I feel stuck..."

When the table was all set, Megan was about to rejoin them when a phone rang. She noticed it was hers and looked over to see who was calling. Unsure of who it was she let out a small hum, "I'm gonna take this call, I'll be outside for a bit." She excused herself and made her way to the backyard for privacy.

Alice continued to listen without interrupting, but the way he was struggling to put his thoughts into words made her feel there was more to what Leon was saying. Leon avoided her gaze for a moment and looked up, "Don't get me wrong, Melody is a great person and I don't want to hurt her. I feel like I'm neglecting her in the relationship because I have my own set of problems. I barely call her or send a text, and when I do it's mostly because I want to tell her how I am and how Megan is..."

He paused for a moment before taking a deep breath, "So I was wondering if..."

"..."

"If I should break—"

A sudden crash from outside alerted the two, along with Grace, who was already pouring soup into the bowls. "What was that?"

Fearing that Megan was injured, he rushed out to the backyard, where she was, wondering where the crash had come from. He opened the back door to see Megan nearly on the ground, her body leaning against the wall next to the broken flower pot.

So that's what made that noise.

"Megan what's wrong? Are you hurt?"

He leans over to check if she got injured but hears a stifled gasp, her shoulders tense as her breath hitches. His gaze went over to her phone as the call was still going on, the voice coming from the other line, "Megan? Megan sweetheart are you there?" Recognizing the voice as Frank, he gently took the phone away from her hands and placed it to his ear, "Frank? What's going on?"

"Leon... He's gone."

"What? Who's gone?"

No response came for a bit but a choked sniffle escaped. A wave of reality crashed onto Leon, not wanting to believe it he held the phone tightly, "Frank, don't tell me—"

"Yes, Leon... he died..."

Leon couldn't believe what he heard, the news of his adoptive father's death struck him through his heart as Megan was trying desperately to keep herself from breaking down into pieces. All of a sudden, questions about what happened and how it happened filled his head; he almost missed what Frank said next.
