Driving with caution, the streets were empty of people, cars abandoned and little to no life being left. The fact that it was already nighttime didn't make the atmosphere less tense. The further they drove to the streets of Raccoon City, the more eerie it got. A loudspeaker was being used as they continued, making an announcement.
"Attention all citizens. Due to the citywide outbreak, you are advised to seek shelter at the Raccoon City Police Station. Free food and medical supplies will be provided to everyone in need."
Megan glanced through the car window, and the slight chill crawled back into her spine at the lack of human presence around them. The rain was now pouring, and it couldn't help but make things worse.
"My god..." she shifted in her seat, "This feels unreal."
"The police station's not much farther. They'll know something." Leon glanced at the rearview mirror, noticing how she was now scrunched up in her seat. He gave her a small yet comforting smile, and she glanced up to return the smile.
Claire looked over at him, "Yeah, but... what if we're the only ones? What if there's no survivors-"
"No." Leon insisted, "There are survivors. It's a big city... There has to be." He didn't want to believe that all hope was lost, especially since this was their first time being here.
Megan let out a small sigh, "Well... let's just try not to lose our heads..."
Claire nodded, there was no use in them all panicking when things took a turn for the worse. The drive had ended early due to a roadblock, and with a huff, Leon set the car to park. "Looks like we're walking from here."
Claire looked out the window to see more of the undead devouring a corpse, their attentions slowly drifting towards them, "More like running."
"Yeah, good call."
A growl of the undead scared the three as they started to surround the car, their fists banging for a way in, the doors, windows, and rooftop. Their attacks caused the car to shake, like someone trying to force their soda out of a vending machine.
"Jesus Christ!" Megan shouted, "We're surrounded!"
"Holy shit! Claire! Megan! Get out! Get out now!"
The three started to push the door, trying to open but the undead prevented that from happening.
"I can't!" Claire yelled as she pushed with all her might.
Megan tried to kick the door open but to no avail, "It won't budge!"
Claire stops pushing and looks over at Leon, "Leon! We gotta back up!"
Leon nodded, quickly shifting the gear to reverse, "Hold on!" He stepped on the gas and the force caused the undead to get run over, some falling onto the street or falling in a different direction. Once they managed to get the undead off the car, he sped away to find another direction towards the police station.
Megan glanced back to see them getting further away, sighing with relief, "Glad that's over... for now."
Leon kept his hands steady on the wheel, "Geez, that was close... Is everyone alright?"
Claire gently rubbed her head, "I'm okay." She turned over to Megan, "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm okay. What about you Leon?"
Leon let out a sigh, "I'm alright," he turned his gaze onto Megan, "We just have to make it to the station and-"
"Look out!" Claire screamed.
Leon looked back at the road to see a group of the undead in front of them, not wanting to risk everyone's lives he quickly made a sharp turn. Hitting a nearby street lamp, causing the backseat window to shatter. Megan quickly shielded herself from the broken glass, "Ack! Leon, be more careful!"
