Author's POV
Meenu and Ram's Room
"Calm down,Ram"
"Calm down.......Calm down....How?After knowing the truth how do you expect me to be calm"
"So will getting agitated, change the fact?It is not the time to react but to act... Ram, I will never say I understand your position but you are not alone"
Meenu comforted Ram while wiping away the lone tear that fell from his eyes.
They had a beautiful eyelock conveying their love.
Ram knew that he will always have his Meenu's support in every ups and downs. That's why he didn't hestitate to show her his weakness.
With arms wrapped around her waist, he finally let himself go. He was finding it hard to accept the fact, whatever hell his brothers had gone in the past years was due to the one woman whom he adored beyond anything. Even though he knew he was fighting a loosing battle, he wanted to be strong for his brothers.
If the truth have shattered his heart into smithereens then it would have broken his brothers beyond repair. He tightened his hold on Meenu as he buried his head in her waist. Her hands weaving through his hairs were the only solace he needed to build himself for his brothers...
Megha and Jeet's Room
Numb
No other emotion could better express what Jeet was going through.
He was tired and wanted to sleep but somehow sleep evaded him.
He felt parched and wanted to drink water but was not able to swallow his own saliva
He wanted to break and scream out his pain but words were just lost to him
" Jeet....Please say something....Jeet...."
" You are scaring me..."
Through the haze of consciousness, he was able to hear the fear in Megha's voice, still was not able to break the protective shield he had created around himself.
"Aaaahhhh"
Suddenly, the sound of glass shattering and Megha’s shriek brought him out of his self induced daze.
"Jaan...Jaan...Are you ok?No......
No.........you are not.....how could you be...you...bleeding...soo...bad...badly.."
Jeet was blabbering without any head or tail."Jeet...Jeet..." Megha shouted to get his attention
"I am fine ....it's just a scratch..."
The soft concerned voice finally broke the wall and Jeet surrendered to his pain.
He howled out from the agony of his bleeding heart, clinging to his lifeline.
Megha's eyes watered on seeing the condition of her love and held onto him, never letting him falter.
Time passed and even though the eyes dried, hearts were far from healed.
They parted and composed themselves as soon as they heard the knock on the door.
"May I come in?"
Both were surprised to find Priya at the door.
"I know it may not be the time but needed to clear the air before I leave"
Their confusion was so palpable that Priya couldn't help smiling.
" My main agenda is still incomplete, Abhi. I will never be free of this guilt until I apologize to both of you especially Megha. My past is not in my favor and I won't compel you to forgive me but I will have some peace that I tried to rectify my mistake. I needed to before taking the plunge"
"Megha, I dont justify my actions as it is unpardonable especially as a woman. I only hope that you can find it in your heart to pardon me...."
Giving Megha a sad but warm smile, Priya turned to Jeet,
"Abhi, I know I betrayed your trust very brutally but I will always wait for the day when you will call me, my friend again"
With misted eyes , Priya said her byes.
As she was leaving the room , she heard Jeet's voice.
"When will you introduce us to that poor chap who willingly agreed to bear you and your infamous tantrums for the rest of his life?"
Priya jerked around to look at Jeet who had a small smile on his face. He blinked his eyes in confirmation, making a smile spread on Priya's face.
"We are hoping it will be sooner than later" Megha added
Content with getting her friend back and also on being forgiven, finally, Priya took her leave.
" It's good you forgave her. One shouldnt start a new life with past guilt and remorse"
Hearing Megha, Jeet responded
"She was always a good friend of mine. Yes, for a time she got distracted but how can I completely blame her when my Amma has been the mastermind. Anyway, I think she had made her amends.....Isn't that why YOU also forgave her even though she was your biggest nemesis?" Jeet teased her at the end
"Nemesis is too strong a word but you are right, I could overlook the past as she genuinely regrets her actions and stood by Chettathi in need"
Her last statement acted as cold water and dimmed the shadow of smile on his face.
Seeing his reaction, Megha took the matter into her hands. She didn't want him to wallow in pity.
"Jeet, It's alright to be heart broken...it's alright to be angry...it's even alright to feel cheated but it's NOT alright to fall apart....On the contrary, we have to stand strong to change every wrong to right."
"What else is left, Jaan?" Jeet's voice sounded forlorn
"There is, Jeet... there is....Don't you find it fishy that Amma would go this far to prevent Mehul's adoption ? We would anyways would not have gone ahead without her permission, so why did she tarnish my image and make Chettathi her scapegoat?"
Her words sent the wheels in Jeet’s head turning.
Before he could come to any sort of conclusion, Megha's voice reached him
"She just ensured that I will not get any chance to adopt him"
