chapter 40

I'm continuing Damon's story arc as this book is about him but would you like to see other characters too? For example Alessandro and Sienna.

"Is Damon around" Callum asked rushing into the room mason was in.

"Not yet but I'm sure he'll be back soon" Mason anwsered.

"Fine. I'll get to the point. The debrief was total chaos. And I have no idea what's going on with him and Clara. I know Olivia is wrong alot but she's our friend and yet Damon stood up for Clara. After she was dismissed we did the main briefing but he never once acknowledged her" Callum quickly explained.

"Yeah don't go there. I know she hates him but she has a good heart, she dropped by to check on me before you came. I gave her a little warning. She can't stand him but she's not a threat. I was worried she'd be like Stephanie so I had to give her the warning"  Mason explained.

"Yes she betrayed her gang, and lied to us but she also helped us. I can't decide if she's trustworthy. When we first questioned her, she didn't give the whole truth" Callum said.

"And yet she's not dead. Damon clearly sees something in her" Mason told him.

"Yeah but he's treated her like shit" Callum countered.

"He's the boss, it's not all sunshine and roses" Mason replied.

"Okay. Well how are you feeling " Callum asked.

"I'm fine. I just need a proper bed" Mason  told him just as Damon walked in.

"Always complaining. Come on then we're going to my place " he said and helped his brother up.

At Damon's place, the two brothers were finally fully relaxed. "We should probably tell dad " Damon said pouring them both a drink.

"Tommorow. He'll be asleep now" Mason said.

"Yeah I meant tommorow " Damon said.

"What is your plan for Clara" Mason asked. He was curious as to where Damon's head was at.

"Well she was useful and did her job, she can go home"  Damon replied as he stood up "you need to get some rest let's go".

Yes Mason was an adult but Damon couldn't help turn into a protective older brother again as he fussed over Mason and helped him to one of his guest rooms.

Damon didn't want to worry his father but knew he had to be told. He had the gang leader in the cells ready to torture but that would have to wait. He had to focus on finding Stephanie now. Whilst she was out there, she was still a threat.

The next day, Damon was awake bright and early. He left a note for Mason.

Gone to work. Rest today. I don't want to see you or I'll give all your work to someone else.

Damon was in fact considering giving Masons work to someone else but in the end he had decided Mason just wouldn't go on any jobs.

He arrived at his office at half 8 and got started on paperwork that was needed. He still had lots of paper work surrounding the Mafia despite being a criminal organisation.

At 9am he smiled when he didn't receive a knock at his office door. He loved the opportunity to show his power.

And at 9.05 he finally received the knock. He was a little irritated that she was a full 5 minutes instead of a minute but he was much more calm today since his brother was okay.

"Come in" he called.

Clara entered looking nervous. She had been running late because of Olivia who had stopped her to insult her.
