Some days they hated each other. Some days it wasn't as bad. Today was the former.

When Connie had come over to find Star and Diamond giving each other the cold shoulder, she knew she would have to intervene.

Star stormed around the house, slamming doors and crying while Diamond sat on the couch stiffly.

"What happened?" She asked.

"We unfused."

She rolled her eyes and gestured to the bathroom where Star had shut himself inside. "I can see that. What happened?"

"He dropped a gallon of Iced Tea and got upset." The pink man met her eyes. "I called him a crybaby."

Connie frowned. "And why did you do that?"

Diamond blinked. "I was annoyed we unfused over something so insignificant."

The dark skinned girl took a deep breath, sighing as Star came her way and stormed past, stomping out the front door. "Do you feel better now that you've upset him?"

"No."

"Exactly," She extended her hand and Diamond stood and wrapped his warm one around hers. She could feel him nearly vibrating. It was good to know he was upset with himself. "Let's go talk it out."

Diamond nodded once.

They found Star sitting in the shallow part of the water waist deep. It was a rather dramatic approach to having your feelings hurt but Connie took off her shoes anyhow.

She stood on his left, and Diamond on his right. He had ceased his sobbing to the occasional sniffle as a wave washed over his lap. "Star," She began.

"It's not my fault this time." He wiped at his face in frustration, hating that he was crying over a kindergarten insult.

"I know. Diamond has something he would like to say." She gestured to him and Star glared.

"You are a crybaby. I'm sorry I said it."

There were few times Connie wanted to slap them across the face. Diamond could be crass at times, and downright mean at others. While he didn't understand emotions nearly as well as she or Star did, she did know he understood when he was making it worse. His girlfriend knew he wasn't a malicious being but he sure was acting like one.

The Diamond looked like he was thinking. "I can be a crybaby too." He was mostly lying, and his other half knew it as well as he. Stars face softened.

"Okay."

They stayed in the water until the sun had drifted toward the horizon and vanished.

Diamond insisted they go inside when he saw Star begin to shiver from the cold. He extended his hand for Star to take but he got up on his own.

They fell asleep in a dog pile on his bed. It was less than comfortable with Diamonds hard light body buzzing and Stars snoring. Still, she found herself enjoying this.
