Connie was smart enough not to get in the way of a fight she knew would end getting her hit on accident.

But she heard the same insult she'd heard a million times directed at Diamond and then a punch that landed immediately after.

She flew off of the couch and into the bedroom to see Star with a scuffed cheek, looking up at Diamond in terror. It was clear he hadn't hit him even remotely hard, but it was enough to send a very clear message for the very first time.

In a split second Star had his hands curled into fists, swinging at Diamond with just as much effort as Diamond had punched him with.

She tucked her head and jammed herself in between the two, barely having to exert herself to get them apart. "Stop it you two! Have you lost your minds?"

Star pushed Diamond, who had settled back into his normal impenetrable, nearly faceless self. "I knew he only wanted to hit people. He's obsessed with making everyone hurt!"

"Star! Stop pushing!" Connie shouldered him back easily and he collapsed onto his knees sobbing into his hand.

"I hate you! Stars, I just wanted a normal life I just wanted to be me but you're always here reminding me I'm not!" His words caught on another sob as his hand reached up to touch his nose. "You hit me, Spinel." His eyes widened and he scrambled back, shielding his face from the oncoming blow that wouldn't come.

Diamond looked on with what she hoped was regret but he shook his head and crouched down to jab at Stars chest and he flinched. "No. You hit you. You wanted me to. You asked, and you received."

Connie pushed Diamond back and held onto Star. "He asked you to hit him?"

"He's constantly asking me to." Diamonds eyes narrowed. "He's always trying to push me until I snap."

"You provoked me! You hurt all of my friends! You're a monster! You made me a monster!" He gripped Connie's arm and cried harder. "I was having a perfectly fine day and you– you just–," He pulled at his hair so hard Connie had to fight to remove them.

"Did he verbally ask you?" Connie pushed and the diamond nodded. "Why? Why would you–?"

Diamond sat down heavily. "Sometimes, I feel too much." He watched Star cry, now visibly showing his guilt through the intensity of his glow.

"Star, Star you have to breathe!" She grabbed his shoulders and shook slightly, cupping his face when he whimpered. "Hey, listen to me! You're going to be okay, he barely grazed your cheek okay? You're having psychosomatic symptoms because your body has perceived this as a memory."

He shook his head wildly, "No, no please don't– I just–," He looked down at his hands and shook violently.

Diamond sat next to Connie when she pulled him into her arms and rubbed his back consolingly. "You've sent him into another flashback," Connie murmured. "He's going to be broken up about this until you can convince him you're not going to ever do that again because you aren't."

Diamond felt awful, but he could only nod his acceptance.
