Grocery Shopping

Shopping for groceries was not one of Connie's favorite things to do by any means, but Star and Diamonds kitchen was low on ingredients.

So here they were.

Public outings when the two were three were taxing. Strangers would stare at them, people would whisper, and more often than not it would put both men in a poor mood when it was time to shop again.

"We could just refuse before we go inside," Diamond suggested.

Star scoffed. "Hard pass."

"Then stop complaining."

"I'm not complaining, I'm just saying it gets exhausting to have to deal everyone's ignorance!" He threw up his arms in exasperation.

"That is the definition of complaining."

"Knock it off you two, we're here." Connie shut off the car and turned to Star in the backseat. He had his arms crossed, annoyed that his gem half got to occupy the front with Connie. "Are you sure you want to go inside, Star? I could run in by myself."

Diamond rested a hand on her shoulder. "I'm coming with you."

"Well if that walking bomb is going with you, I am too."

"I could say the same about you." The gem countered.

Their girlfriend sighed again, chuckling a bit. "Come on you two, let's get this over with."

It wasn't to say that Connie was good at handling the wayward glances and obvious staring but she did have a comprehensive plan to get them in and out as fast as possible.

They walked on either side of her, Star just a bit ahead exclaiming excitedly when he saw something he wanted which he would then put in the cart. Diamond would put it back.

"Stop taking my shit out of the cart," Star hissed.

"It's not on the list."

Connie stopped and reached for a jar of Alfredo sauce. They walked in silence for a moment to the dairy section. "Lists can change."

Diamond frowned. "Then why make one?"

"It's more of an outline. These are the things we need," she held up the list, "and the extra stuff are the things we want. We do however have a budget." She looked pointedly at Star who had an armful of mac and cheese ready to dump in the cart.

He pulled a face. "But I like mac and cheese."

Connie giggled. "Then grab three, not seven."

"I want four."

Compromise. It was at the root of the threes relationship.

She shook her head, grinning at the human. "Deal."

The cashier gave the three an odd look before focusing on Connie. "Are they with you?"

"We're her boyfriends." Diamond looked up from bagging and Star set his jaw.

They both stared at the clerk with sinister, protective eyes.

The man swallowed. "C-cash or card?"
