"Don't give it away." Diamond shoved a finger in Stars face.

"Don't fuck it up and crush it." Star sneered.

Diamond wrapped the last box and handed it to Star. "I wish..." He gestured between the two of them.

"Me too."

They tried meditating, but Star was too restless.

Yoga was okay, but it didn't really help.

They'd even tried arguing, but they couldn't find a reason to and it fell flat.

They couldn't seem to fuse no matter how hard they'd tried, but this had to be done today.

Connie was cheerfully dividing the presents into piles for each of them. Her ugly sweater dress she had picked out fit perfectly. It was Christmas green and red with the horrific gold and silver bows plastered on every few inches and the white fluffy trim for santa hats. It was horrific.

"She's so cute."

"Right?"

They took a synced step and clasped hands.

"Well I'll be! It's a Christmas miracle!" Steven sat the present down and nuzzled her nose. "You okay?"

"Yeah. I got you something."

She giggled and eyed the box. "That thing is massive."

"Then open it first." Steven shrugged. "That way you can get it over with and use the box for wrapping paper."

She grinned. "I like the way you think, Universe."

Connie sat on the chair and daintily opened the paper wrapped to perfection. "Can I shake it?"

Her boyfriend laughed. "That should be fine. Not too hard though, you might break it."

She wrinkled her nose and shook it, but it made no sound. "It's medium light. Is it a bunch of books?" She asked hopefully.

"Open it and see."

It was a box.

"Wow. Thanks." She said dryly. "This one is wrapped too? You shouldn't have."

"Well, we like to keep things interesting around here." He nudged it with his foot. "Open it."

She opened it to find yet another box. This time she said nothing, and opened it again to reveal another. She made an irritated grunt and opened it, crying out in pain when it was yet another box. "Why do you hate me?"

He only smiled.

When she finally got to the smallest box, she grinned and held it up victoriously. "Gotcha!"

"Honey, it's duct taped."

She looked down at it again and growled. "Oh my stars, why?" She pulled an exacto knife off of the table and carefully cut it open to reveal...

absolutely nothing.

She tore through it again, frowning over a laugh. "This is stupid. Everything is stupid. I hate Christmas." She grumbled as she continued her search.

"Connie."

She glared over at him and froze. "You–,"

"Merry Christmas, Connie Mahaswaren. Marry me, this time older and with a better headspace. You've held me together, and loved me when I've fallen apart. We– I– want to do the same for you for the rest of our lives. Let's be together forever." He tensed. He genuinely didn't know how he would handle her no, but he prepared for it throughly.

"Steven, yes!" She scrambled up and hug tackled him so hard when his head hit he blacked out for a second.

He blinked a couple of times and sucked in a shocked breath. "Yes?!"

"Yes!" She all but screamed and hugged him even tighter.

He wrapped his arms around her and laughed, tears streaming down his cheeks. "Oh my god I thought you'd say no!"

She leaned away to look at him like he was stupid. "No?! Why would I say no?! We've been together for nine years! I love you!"

He chuckled and got down on one knee, motioning for her hand and the world went still as he pulled it out of the velvet box and began to slide it on her finger.

A flash of light and they groaned.

"Goddamn it!"

"It's your fault!"

"Why?" Stevonnie threw their head back in a whine. "Well, I mean..." They looked down at their hands, the right one about to slide the ring over their left. "We can still have our moment."

They pushed it on, and let out a watery chuckle.

"I love Christmas."
