Eye Contact

Connie could rarely find enough energy and poise to make prolonged eye contact with people, especially with her boyfriends.

She found Diamonds gaze too intense to hold, and Star's always seemed to be looking through and inside her even when he was being upset. Stevens was always a mix of both, and a constant look of being haunted by his past even when he smiled.

The feelings had been overwhelming for her, and they still were, but she found herself gazing into Diamonds eyes anyways after he'd told her he loved her verbally without the taps. She desperately wanted to know what went on in his head, and why he always looked at her like he wanted to take her to bed. Not that she minded all that much.

He did. Making gems was deeply ingrained into his programming, but he was staring because he thought she was pretty. He liked that she didn't make a lot of eye contact. Something in him saw it as submission, and the rare moments she did were very special to him somehow. He knew she had social anxiety, so he was curious as to why she wouldn't break it.

Star opened the fridge and rummaged around for something they couldn't see.

They heard it, a loud cracking and fizzling sound that made Connie snap out of it and blush. She was back to avoiding his eyes, though she did smile. "Star, we were having a moment."

"And I'm having a soda."
