Connie finally closed her textbooks and stared blankly at the counter tops. "Hey guys?"
They both immediately came out into the kitchen and stood by her.
"You're finished." Diamond rubbed her back gently and kissed her cheek.
"Hey, good job. I've never seen anyone do a 11 hour study binge before." Star didn't bother to keep the sarcastic tone out of his voice. In his mind, it was only a matter of time before she lost her marbles.
"Do you guys ever get water hungry?" She slurred.
"I'm sorry, what?" Star coughed.
"Water hungry. Like for water." She rubbed a tired hand over her face. "For water."
"Connie, do you mean thirsty? Do you need some water?" Diamond was already moving to pour her a glass and handed it to her.
She chugged the entire glass in three swallows. "Yes, I meant thirsty."
Star burst into laughter as Diamond poured her another glass. "You need to come to bed." He choked on another laugh. "Like now."
Diamond ruffled her hair as she drank the glass to completion. "Water hungry."
"I meant thirsty!"
"Right."
