"Give me a turn for once. Go mediate or something, you big bakery," Star playfully nudged Diamond out of the way and Diamond smacked him with his oven mitts.
Since they had started talking again, things were smoother. They still hadn't refused, and that was hard for Star, but Diamond was talking to him again and that was all that truly mattered.
"Fine. I'm going to mediate in Roses Room," He took a few steps toward the door but froze when Star called after him. "Yes?"
Star swallowed, scratching at his neck. "You... know that I love you right? Like, being part of me and stuff? I dunno, it sounds weird out loud. Never mind."
Diamond snorted, his cheeks darkening. "You're an idiot. I tolerate your existence with the barest of iota of non-apathy towards you."
"He means he loves you too, Star," Connie input with a laugh.
Star chuckled and waved him off. "Hey, once I use this milk, we'll be out and we need it for cookies. Can you go out and grab more?"
Connie raised a finger to finish her chapter. "Of course!" She gave him a kiss on his cheek and bounced out the door, seemingly happy with how the day was going.
It was fairly easy, but he definitely didn't like his hands sticky and greasy when he was all finished. It was always amazing to him that a bunch of unrelated ingredients could be made into such a delicious treat.
Star skimmed the back of the box as he washed his hands and frowned. He dug his phone out of his pocket and called Connie. "Hey, quick question."
Star dialed in Diamond too, who sounded irritated. "What?"
"What's up? I just got to the store. Hi Diamond."
"So, I could bake these cookies for 10 minutes on 400 degrees..." Star started.
Connie was already suspicious but nodded, "Yyyes. Go on."
"Or," Star emphasized. "I could bake them at 4,000 for one minute."
"Star, no! That's not how you bake cookies." She told him sternly. "Just because Bismuth enhanced our oven doesn't mean you should try."
"Floor it." Diamond encouraged.
"Diamond, no! Bad boyfriends!" Connie jogged to the back of the store and yanked the milk out, now on a mission to get home as soon as possible.
"How about 4,000,000 for one second? It would be shorter and less time for the oven to–,"
"Star, you are going to burn down our house!" Connie cried. The cashier gave her a weird look as he scanned the last few items of the person in front of her ridiculously slow.
"I sure I could emit heat that would feel similar to the sun," Diamond mused. "You would have to wear protective gear, though."
"Diamond, please stop encouraging this!"
Star clicked off the line and stared at the dial. It really only went up to around 2,000, but the curiosity was morbid.
He turned it up to full power and leaned against the counter as he waited for it to preheat.
Around two minutes later, Connie burst through the front door. "Turn that fucking dial down or you are going to get the ass whooping of a millennia!"
Star scrambled to turn it down, but an oven mitt caught fire and he yelped.
Diamond walked out of Roses Room, looking quite relaxed as he gazed at the fire disinterestedly.
Connie and Star were both yelling as the fire alarm went off and he tried to fill a cup up with water, while she was saying to just pick it up and put it in the sink for less clean up.
"I love you too, Star."
"Bad timing Diamond!" Connie shouted.
A/N: Omg I love this chapter too
