"Come on, you're kidding." Star pointed at an ornament Diamond had just hung. "That red is way too close to the other red ornament." He snatched it off of the tree and moved it over.
Connie snorted and put up another one, this time a gold one, directly on top of another gold one.
Star didn't notice until he moved to that side. He moved it carefully and resumed his work.
Diamond and Connie exchanged a playful look and started putting up ornaments even worse than before.
The red ones were all dangling at the bottom.
The white ones were so deeply in the tree that you couldn't hardly see them.
As hard as Star worked against them, they worked together more fluently.
The last straw was when Diamond placed the star under the tree.
"Okay, now I know you two are fucking with me. Go make some popcorn or something!" Star laughed.
Connie laughed, looking over at Diamond as they walked to the kitchen. She pointed at her own mouth. "You're smiling."
He tried to drop it, but miraculously it stayed. "Huh."
