Y/N: I'm quitting my detective job-
Eve: WHAT?!
Y/N: RELAX!!! And becoming... a private investigator. See, I'm not able to spend as much time with you guys when I'm out trying to solve cases, but at least when I'm a private investigator, I'll have my own hours, as long as I do my job. I love you guys, I want to give you all more attention, that's why I think this is best.
Kali: But... you're quitting your job for us...
Sera: Yeah, I don't get that one.
Y/N: Well, Sera, did you want to work at a coffee shop AND make music?
Sera: No... eventually I had to pick one.
Y/N: Exactly.
Kai: S-so... y-you picked us... over your profession...
Y/N: I did, I love you guys. You all deserve as much attention as I can possibly give you. I mean, hell, I've been living with you, and you haven't made me pay rent either.
Eve: It's because we paid the landlord off, we just paid utilities and bought this place from his company outright. But Y/N... just think... is this really what YOU want? You were very enthusiastic about your detective work, detective.
Y/N: This is what I want. Y'know, I've given this a lot of thought actually, and it'd be perfect. Only thing I need to do now is wait for my license to show up and buy a car.
Kali: No, what you need to do is be my little munch.
Y/N: Your "little munch"? Oh wait, Kali, really? Ugh...
Kali and Eve both giggle, then they nuzzle both my arms. I kiss both of them on the lips, and just sit back.
Y/N: I can't wait for whatever happens.
Eve: Me neither... I'm so glad about this.
Ahri: Welcome home.
I sit back further, and the girls reposition themselves to lay against me.
Y/N: Hey... and by the way, I got an invite to Jayce's party.
Ahri: Oh, we stopped going after that one time.
Kai: I... oh... I-I don't wish to remember.
Y/N: Oh no, wait, was it the party back in 2019?
Kai nods. Jayce's CHRISTMAS party back in 2019 was during his time when he was more into government contracting rather than medical or defense. Old geezers and politicians that like to have a bit too much fun with the impressionable.
It was hard to accept that those were the people I protected and worked for, but also helped me understand that I'm not protecting them, I'm protecting the people that pay them... I love the government... that's sarcasm, if it wasn't obvious.
Y/N: I didn't know the victims, because I was only an officer at that point, I just remember arresting the culprit. Even after all the drugging, he still didn't get lucky. That's why I think the insane-o just did it for fun.
Kai: Yeah, that... he got me...
Kali: He knocked me out too...
Eve: Seraphine too.
