It didn't take me long to completely calm down from my encounter with Chan, especially when I distracted myself with shopping. In fact, after I had left the book shop with a couple of new books in a plastic bag, I'd almost forgotten all about it. The encounter didn't worry me, so there was no need to think about it.
Just after midday, I was in the supermarket, getting the essentials I needed, but also browsing ingredients to make dinner for Ms Choi. Though I knew that whilst I was a decent cook, I could never dream of matching the skill level of Ms Choi; that woman was on a level of her own when it came to food.
My shopping cart was close to being full when I looked at the shopping list on my phone. Only one ingredient left; gochujang.
It was in one of the last aisles towards the back, and as I walked down said aisle, I realised the gochujang was on a top shelf. This made me huff quietly; I wasn't a tall person.
Yet that didn't stop me from reaching up, arms outstretched, and on my tiptoes.
"Here, let me!" A male voice said behind me.
A hand attached to a much longer arm than mine reached up and grabbed the gochujang with ease, then brought it down to my level.
"Oh," I said in surprise, taking the gochujang. "Thank you, uh..."
I turned to look at my helper and saw a man with long, blonde hair and gorgeous facial features, along with a cute little mole sitting just under his left eye. I froze.
"Hyunjin," he helpfully supplied his name with a smile.
But I already knew that. Despite not actually having interacted with him directly, I, of course, knew who he was and that he was a member of Skz.
"Hyunjin," I murmured. "I really appreciate the help."
"It's no problem," he said warmly. "Really, they shouldn't make the shelves so tall."
I couldn't help but chuckle as I nodded in agreement.
"True," I smiled. "Well, I must be on my way, thank you again!"
Hyunjin nodded with an adorable eye smile, and we parted ways.
As I went around a corner and Hyunjin was out of sight, I breathed deeply, a little shaken. Two encounters with Skz members in one day? An odd coincidence, right?
Despite how earlier in the day I had been excited to get out of the apartment, I was now eager to get back.
So, as quickly as I could, I paid for my shopping and carried the many plastic bags to my car. My stubbornness made me believe I could carry them all to the car without the trolley.
I was wrong.
I was halfway to my car when one of the handles of a bag split.
"Shit!" I hissed.
I tried to hold up my shopping to stop anything falling out of the broken bag, but it was precariously close.
"Whoa, hold on," a male voice said as someone rushed up to me.
As the person appeared in my vision, I had a strong sense of deja-vu, along with a feeling of dread; this was way too much to be a coincidence at this point.
The person in question was a dark-haired, sharp chinned, and very buff guy. In the mafia world, he was known as Changbin of Skz.
Without waiting for me to say anything, he took half of the full plastic bags from me. I just stared at him wordlessly as he did so.
"Sorry, I saw you struggling," he said apologetically as he saw my expression. "I figured I'd be a gentleman and help."
"Thank you," I said in a small voice, and he nodded, smiling.
"So, uh, which way?" he asked, an eyebrow slightly raised.
"Oh, right," I said quickly, blushing as I tried to snap myself out of it. "Uh, this way."
I crossed the rest of the parking lot with Changbin right behind me, effortlessly carrying the heavier bags.
"Just here," I murmured, unlocking my car as we reached it.
After opening the boot, Changbin and I silently put the shopping bags inside in an organised and tidy way.
"Thanks again," I said softly, closing the boot.
"No problem," he chuckled, an amused smile on his face. "You're a quiet one, aren't you?"
"Maybe," I shrugged, not really wanting to go into my personality or who I am. "I've also just had a kinda weird day, so I'm looking forward to going home."
"I won't keep you much longer then," he smiled. "Take care now."
I nodded, and after a small wave, he walked away. I wasted no time getting into the driver's seat.
Something was wrong. I could feel it. I didn't think it was a coincidence anymore, no way. Three members of Skz in one day? And they all interacted with me too... Maybe Chan had been more suspicious than he'd let on this morning. It felt like maybe they were keeping tabs on me.
But maybe it only went up to suspicion so far, maybe they didn't have anything concrete to take me down. Either way, I had to be more careful from now on.
After letting out a big sigh, I put my belt on and turned on the ignition, carefully but quickly making my way out of the parking lot.
The sooner I was home, the better.
Third person p.o.v
"What do you think?" Hyunjin asked Changbin as they watched Alexandra's car leave.
"I think we need more evidence," Changbin murmured. "But Chan was right to be suspicious of her."
"What do we do now?" the blonde asked.
"We watch her, get more intel," the older replied. "And if we're confident it's her, we move in... she won't get away."
