Though the rest of my sleep had been uneventful, I was shattered the next day. Without meaning to, I'd gotten up late and was the last person in the kitchen that morning to get breakfast. As I walked into the kitchen, I noticed Kayla sitting on Chan's lap again, though he didn't seem interested in her this morning, even if she was trying to gain his attention. Though it irritated me, I was too tired to feel anything else about it.
"There you are!" Hyunjin said as I sat next to him. "I was getting a little worried."
"I appreciate the concern," I said as I stifled a yawn, instantly plopping my head on his shoulder tiredly.
"Tired after last night?" he asked quietly, and I nodded. "Doing okay this morning?"
"Mhm," I mumbled, willing my eyes to stay open; his shoulder was surprisingly comfy.
"Come on, eat some food," Hyunjin said, pushing some food towards me. "It'll wake you up."
I just made a tired sound and got myself more comfortable on his shoulder, wrapping my arms around his own arm. Hyunjin chuckled in endearment.
"As cute as you are," he smiled warmly. "You need to eat."
"I will in a bit," I murmured.
"Alex!" Chan's voice startled me enough to lift my head up swiftly, blinking at him as I waited for him to speak. "You need to eat."
The words were the same as Hyunjin's, but Chan said it in a different tone, a more stern one. Surprisingly, it was enough to make me listen for a change, even if it was a little irksome. So, with a slight grumble, I picked at the food Hyunjin had placed in front of me. I had to admit that it did make me feel a bit better.
Even though it was little bites I was taking, Chan looked quietly pleased that I'd listened and was eating. Kayla, on the other hand, looked furious. This whole time, she'd been trying to get Chan's attention, but the moment his attention turned to me, she seemed ready to leap across the table and strangle me. I just found it funny, but as amusing as it was, I just ignored her, even if I did feel a sense of satisfaction at her misfortune.
Eventually, I'd eaten enough that the fatigue had worn off, and I spent the rest of breakfast talking to Jeongin and Hyunjin. This time I didn't feel like fake flirting with Hyunjin in front of Chan, and thankfully Hyunjin seemed to understand this quite quickly, and instead he'd pulled Jeongin into the conversation to make it a more natural conversation between friends.
As I usually did, I took my empty dishes to the sink when I was done eating, unlike the others who liked to sit and chat for a bit whilst their food settled. However, when I turned around after setting the dishes in the sink, I bumped into someone... and got cold, sticky, orange juice all down my front, making me freeze in surprise.
"Oops, my bad," Kayla said, feigning innocence, a malicious glint in her eyes.
Instantly, I knew that it was done on purpose, and the smirk forming on her face confirmed it. I could also see her waiting for something, and I realised it was my reaction; she was waiting for me to get frustrated and lash out. But that wasn't me, especially not over spilt orange juice, even if it was the bitch who spilled it, plus I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction.
