The lack of eventfulness over those few days helped me to feel more comfortable in going out again. Which was good because I needed to scout out quiet and abandoned locations to meet up with any potential buyers.

I set off just after midday, heading for the outskirts of the city and sometimes a little further out. There were some potential spots that were definitely abandoned, but some showed signs of recent activity, whether it was tire tracks or campfire pits. I'd just have to make a list of all possible places and give it to the buyer to get their opinion.

I'd already been out for a few hours, so by the time I was heading back, the sky had started to become the pink and orange hues of a sunset. It also made me realise I was hungry; I regretted not bringing snacks with me. But it wouldn't take long for me to make an instant bowl of ramen.

As I pulled up in front of my apartment, with food on my mind, I noticed there were no lights in Ms Choi's apartment. Hmm, maybe she'd gone out and would be home soon; she never usually stayed out much longer after the sun had set.

After locking my car, I made my way into the building and up the stairs, stifling a yawn. Food and sleep sounded good.

Standing in front of my apartment door, however, all fatigue and hunger was forgotten, my body instantly alert.

The door was open, showing the dark interior of my apartment. Something felt extremely off. I tensed up, ready to fight as I slowly went inside. My hand reached for the light switch, and I blinked as the whole room lit up.

It was a mess. Furniture was overturned and broken, the sofa ripped up, cabinets wide open, broken dishes and cups on the floor, plants yanked out of their pots.

"Shit!" I gasped.

In a panic, I bolted out of the apartment and almost jumped down the stairs to reach Ms Choi's apartment.

"Halmoni!" I called, banging loudly on the door. "Ms Choi, are you in there?"

When there was no answer, I went outside and tried to peer in through the windows. Yet, with the lights off inside, I couldn't make out anything.

No, I think it would've been obvious if something had happened to her. I didn't think she was even home right now.

Instead, I went back up to my apartment and surveyed the mess. Had thieves broken in? Nothing seemed to be stolen, and I don't think thieves would make such a mess. My thoughts suddenly went to my secret hiding spot where I kept my work stuff.

When I turned to it I saw the pillar remained untouched. Good. I knew the contents inside were safe, only I could access them without creating a hole in the pillar.

However, before I started towards it, four figures appeared in the doorway to the apartment.

Four members of Skz, which included Chan, who stood in front of them, giving me a glare.

Dread flooded through as I realised I was in trouble. They knew... and somehow, they had found me.

I swiftly turned to go to the window, but was met by four more members who had quietly appeared behind me from upstairs. They, along with the others, surrounded me.

It was hard for me to see a way out of this.

"Where's the intel you got on us?" Chan asked quietly, a menacing tone in his voice.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about," I mumbled, trying to play dumb.

"Don't try to mess with us," Minho scoffed. "We know who you are."

"Meg," Chan said. "Well, that's your fake name, right? Alexandra..."

"Just give us what we want, and no one gets hurt," one of the others, Felix, said.

"Sure," I scoffed and looked at Chan's expression. "You're going to hurt me anyway."

"You're not wrong," he murmured.

That was all it took for me to spring into action. With as much strength as I could, I charged through the guys blocking my way to the door, but one of them was fast as I was grabbed by the waist and pulled back. I dug my elbows into their sides though, and I was quickly released, dodging outreached hands as I pushed people over and out of my way. I knew there was no way I would win in a fight against eight.

When I saw a clear opportunity, I headbutted one of them, making them stagger back and allowing me to reach the window. However, before I could even open it, I was grabbed again, this time my arms being pinned to my sides by some buff arms.

"Get off me!" I said loudly, struggling against them.

"Quick, the sedative!" the person holding me said, and I realised it was Changbin.

"No!" I yelled, realising they meant to knock me out.

But Changbin was too strong to struggle against, and before I knew it, Minho was suddenly in front of me, a syringe in his hand as he tilted my head to expose my neck.

"I won't be gentle," he said coldly.

The syringe was jammed painfully into my neck, and I whimpered as he pushed the contents into my bloodstream. I was well and truly screwed now.

"Night night," one of them laughed as my vision started to blur.

As the blurriness increased, my surroundings started to disappear, my senses losing all focus, and I quickly fell unconscious.
