Cake Day

The house was pretty quiet on the morning of Nicole's birthday. Her mom had gone to work, and she was left alone in the two story home on a summer's day, with a comfortable silence in all of the rooms and hallways. That all changed, however, when the melodic sound of a doorbell rang through the house, announcing the arrival of her two best friends in the world.

Nicole strode through the entrance hallway towards her front door with excitement.

She held out her arms, and Zoe and Jessica put down the bags, taking turns to hug the brunette while crying "Nicole!"
