The group flew nonstop back home, to the Air Temple Island. As the large island came into view Korra could make out a certain polar bear dog lounging on the ground.
Korra stood up on the saddle waving an arm. "Naga!"
Naga looks up and her tail starts wagging happily. Once Pepper lands Korra hops off the Bison, and she's immediately met with an elated and excited Naga.
"I missed you so much, girl!" Korra said
"Mom! Dad! We're back! And we got Korra!" Meelo shouted
"Dad!"
Chai hopped off Dawn and ran over to her father. The man chuckled, catching Chai as they spun. When she was set down Bum-Ju landed atop her head resting there.
"Look who we got," Chai said
They walk over to Korra and Bumi pulls her into a hug lifting her off her feet.
"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes! Bum-Ju and I sure missed you," Bumi said
"It's so great to see you again, Bumi. And you too, Bum-Ju," Korra said
Bum-Ju lets out a trill looking Korra's way. Pema and Tenzin entered the courtyard and smiled when they spotted Korra.
"Well done kids!"
Tenzin hugged Ikki and Jinora while Pema hugged Meelo.
"I'm proud of you all for finding Korra," Tenzin said
"Proud enough to get me my tats?" Meelo asked
"No," Tenzin said flatly
He walked over to Korra giving her a hug.
"Welcome home," Tenzin said
"I missed you, Tenzin," Korra said
"Now, I hate to get right down to business, but I want to hear what happened in Zaofu," Tenzin said
Everyone goes quiet the happy atmosphere falling away turning into an uncomfortable silence.
"Way to ruin the moment," Bumi said
"Kuvira's whole army was there. She captured Mom, Dad, and my brothers," Opal said
Korra looks down sadly. "I thought I was strong enough to stop her. I feel like such a failure."
"No one expected you to handle Kuvira on your own. It's up to all of us to find a way to deal with her. We're just glad to have you back," Tenzin said
"Where's Bolin? He's not still on Kuvira's side, is he?" Bumi asked
"I can't believe he would stay with her after what she did to my family. But we don't know where he is," Opal said
"Mako!"
"Chai!"
Mako smiled as he saw Chai coming his way, but that turned into surprise when Chai jumped into his arms. He faltered a step back, stabilizing himself to support Chai's weight. He held onto Chai as she hugged Mako, her legs kicked up.
When she was done Chai put her legs down onto the floor.
"I heard what happened in Zaofu," Mako said
Chai frowned, "Yeah..."
"Are you okay? You don't get hurt did you?" Mako asked
"No, I'm good. It's just..." Chai trailed off.
"Just what?" Mako asked
Chai sighed. "Seeing Kuvira made me so uneasy. Sozin started the war because he wanted to spread the greatness and prosperity that was the Fire Nation to other lands. How long until Kuvira does the same? Not only that but Sozin was able to do so much because the Avatar wasn't present, but imagine what would have occurred if he had the power of the Avatar to back him up."
