Chapter 7 - "I Should Have Paid Him!"

"Come on, show me what you got. I can take whatever you throw at me. Teach me! Guided me!" Chai exclaimed

Mako let out a yawn as a vigorous Chai bounced in front of him.

"I've never seen someone with so much energy in the morning," Mako said

"I rise with the sun!" Chai said

Chai had nearly dragged Mako out of bed. The Princess was more than eager to learn how to control her firebending.

"Now come on I'm gearing to go!" Chai said

"I can tell." Mako stood up straighter and rolled his shoulders. "Alright let's get to it."

"Wow. You picked up what I showed you fast," Mako said

"Thanks! I used to watch my Uncle and Great Grandfather spar all the time. When I was old enough they let me spar too. Obviously, I couldn't firebend back then but I know the moves," Chai said

After a successful firebending session, Mako and Chai made their way back to their huts.

"If you can control the output of fire, you might just beat me in a spar," Mako said

"Hey, if we were not bending I'd wipe the floor with you," Chai said

When they got back to their temporary abodes they were met with Bolin and Asami, who were just leaving their huts.

"Hey, what were you two up to?" Bolin asked

"Sparring," Chai said

"Sparring?" Asami questioned

"Oh yeah, Chai's a firebender now," Bolin said

"She's a what?" Asami said

"Also her hair glows," Bolin added

"Wha-I have missed far too much," Asami said

"Well, are you busy now? We can hang out and I can catch you up. Wait, wait." Chai started to mumble under her breath. "Glowing hair, firebending...Never mind you're all caught up."

"Well if you two aren't busy you can come join me and Bolin. We're going to meet up with Varrick," Asami said

"Oooo, I wanna come. Varrick's got a bunch of cool and shiny things," Chai said

"I better come too, to make sure she stays out of trouble," Mako said

Varrick had a decked-out room filled to the brim with interesting collectibles, trinkets, and curios. Mako sat on a couch and Bolin lounged on the other end. Chai was busy exploring Varrick's lavished room touching things she probably shouldn't have been.

"Ooo what's this?" Chai pondered staring at a statue.

"Chai, don't break anything," Mako said

"You got it!" Chai said, giving Mako a salute.

"Where's Varrick? We should've closed our deal an hour ago," Asami said

"Would you relax? This place is great. Eska doesn't know I'm here," Bolin said

As the words left his lips the doors open revealing several soldiers along with Desna and Eska.

Bolin gulped standing up quickly. "I wasn't hiding. Hey, hey, hey, hey."

"I'm not on the hunt for you....Currently," Eska said

The soldiers enter the room and start searching through it.

"We search for Varrick. Our father wishes him to stand trial," Desna said

"What did he do?" Asami asked
