Chapter 42: It's a Clip Show - A Clip Chapter?

The next day started off far differently for a certain firebender and Prince. Mako stood face to face with Wu, both of them dressed in training gear.

"You know, there's something about being kidnapped that makes a guy realize he needs to get his act together," Wu said

"Yeah, I agree. Let's toughen you up," Mako said

Wu puts his arms up in a defensive manner and Mako does the same. He places one foot forward and does a light jab, his fist tapping Wu's shoulder. The Prince immediately crumbles, falling to the floor.

"Aaah, I wasn't ready! Wu down!" He shouted curling into the fetal position.

Mako's brows furrow as a gasp sounded off behind him. He looked over his shoulder to see Yin and Tu.

"What's going on?" Yin walks off to Wu and kneels down gathering the young man in her arms. "Mako, how dare you injure the prince! Would his royal highness like a cherry-berry lemonade?"

"And maybe some of those sticky dumplings, too?" Wu asked with a baby voice.

"Look at you! You're so weak, 'Wu down' is your catchphrase," Mako said

"I know, I'm a wimp. But it's not my fault, I was born that way! I'm not like you, Mako, I wasn't raised by a pack of cops in the woods," Wu said

Mako crossed his arms, his mouth skewing in annoyance. "You don't know anything about me, do you?"

"Yeah, I'm drawing a blank. Why is that? How do I not know stuff about you?" Wu asked

"Uhh, you never asked?" Mako said

"Well, I'm asking now! What's your favorite food? What's your favorite color? Is there a special lady in your life?" Wu asked

"I'm dating Chai," Mako blankly stated.

"Wait what you're dating Chai? Like actually in a relationship?" Wu said

Mako raised a brow. "What-How could you not know we were dating?"

"I thought you two were just flirting, you know some playful banter. I can't believe you are dating the Princess of the Fire Nation," Wu said

"We've been together for three years. We started dating a bit after Korra and I broke up," Mako said

What? You dated the Avatar? You and Chai have been together for how long?!" Wu pointed at the floor. "Sit! You and I need to have a little gab session right now!"

When Chai awoke it was a little after midmorning. Mako was gone but the covers had been pulled up, and she had been tucked into the bed. A thing Mako always did whenever he had to leave and Chai was still asleep in bed.

She found a note left by Mako on the nightstand informing her that he'd be going to the mansion to check up on Wu. So that's why Chai was currently making her way through the halls of said mansion, humming a causal tune, as she held a medium-sized blue box in her hand.

Chai greeted the many members of Mako's family as she passed by making her way to the training room.

"And that's when I met Chai."

Chai paused as Mako's voice drifted down the hall.

"Don't tell me what you did to Asami with Korra, you did with Chai?" Wu's voice followed.

"Nooo, in fact, I didn't. I thought Chai was...weird. I didn't even know she was a Princess until I had to be her escort," Mako said

Chai located the room where the boy's voice came from. Instead of entering, she took a seat outside, listening in.
