Chapter 18 - He Can Airbend!

Chai sat in the courtyard with Meelo, Ikki, and Pabu. She hummed, rocking her egg while the two kids played with the fire ferret.

All was silent until Bumi came running up to the three, sweating and out of breath.

"Dad, you okay?" Chai asked

"You're not gonna believe what just happened." Bumi looked to Ikki. "Where's your father?"

Ikki turned and let out a scream of "Daaaaaaad!"

Tenzin burst through a set of doors with worry visible on his face. "What is it? What's wrong?" He questioned, looking around quickly.

He stepped out followed by Jinora, Kya, and Pema.

"The most amazing, wondrous, fantastical thing just occurred. Okay, Bum-Ju and I had a little fight. I made him this sweater, and he didn't seem to like it, and I'll admit, it might need work, but it was my first attempt at knitting, so I was a little hurt," Bumi said

Tenzin gave his brother a deadpanned look. "Hilarious." He turned facing everyone. "Time for dinner, everyone."

"No, check this out. I can airbend," Bumi declared

He started shoving his arms forward making grunting noises as he attempted to airbend.

"Yeah wait, seriously, I was doing it."

He tried again waving around his arms but still got nothing.

"No hold on, I just uh, maybe if I-No."

When everyone settled down for dinner Bumi was still pretty adamant that he could airbend.

"I swear, I'm not making it up," Bumi said

He kept punching at nothing attempting to airbend.

"Stop waving your arms around at the table. It's not funny anymore," Tenzin said

"It's not a joke," Bumi said

"I believe you Dad," Chai said

"Thank you, sweetheart," Bumi said

"Chai, do not encourage him," Tenzin said

"Hey, if I can firebend why can't Dad airbend?" Chai said

"That's acuity a fair argument," Kya said

"Not it is not," Tenzin said

Korra and Asami walked into the room and both staring at the arm-waving Bumi confused.

"What's up with him?" Korra asked

"Bumi says he airbended earlier, but he can't now. Oh, and I guess he's not very good at knitting either. I gotta say, I love being a part of this family. You got the grumpy dad, the wacky uncle, the put-upon mom, crazy kids. This is great," Bolin said

"Where's Mako?" Asami asked

"Hey, I was wondering that too? Why isn't he here having dinner?" Chai asked

"Oh, you mean the brooding teenager? He's staying in the police station," Bolin said

"Wait he's sleeping there too?" Chai asked

"I told him Tenzin invited us to stay here since our apartment is a vine habitat now, but-"

Bolin pushed his hair up into the same style as Mako's and even made the same expression as him.

"-he said he had to focus on work."

Chai laughed loudly pounding a fist on the table. "That was perfect Bolin!"
