Pompom walked up to the classroom door, turning the knob gently, and stepped inside. The Parent Teacher conference happened at the end of the school day, all the kids were still in the back of the room at the town mat, playing some kind of game, but not getting too loud even as a few were frustrated. The room was a yellow color on each wall. There was a cubby area for bags, one opening leading to the back of the classroom, and a sink in a counter just ahead of a few cubbies. There were a few shelves by the windows, full of books, and a few smaller ones having racks where papers were laid unevenly.
Shiko was in the back sitting on one desk above the others, his wings behind him fluttering with interest in what was happening. They were also the only parents here, but a few other kids too were with Shiko in the back."Pompom! I'm so glad you could make it!" The teacher–a tapricorn–called out her with a wave.
"It's alright! And sorry I'm a bit behind, my boss was unwilling to let me go a bit earlier, and since Air had some incident recently, he's been stuck inside, so I had to walk quite a bit a-ways."
"Oh, It's not an issue at all! Where do you work?"
"The pharmacy near the portal, you know the one?"
"Oh, geez! That is quite far!"
"Yep, but it isn't a distance I haven't walked before."
"Now take a seat, alright? We have a bit to go over." She took out a folder from under her desk, and placed it on the table next to her desk.
Pompom stepped over, pulling back the metal chair and taking a seat. Her form and posture put out a frame of confidence and calm, but inside, she was just as nervous as Kayna being asked to swim across an ocean.
"Now, there's nothing bad with Shiko currently, instead he's been quite good! He's never gotten a time out, never had to do something else instead of recess, never had to have lunch with me, and he's a straight A student. But, I do have a few concerns with a few things about him." Tapricon explained, opening Shiko's student file, and letting them see a few papers inside–mostly Shiko;s assignments, and his report card.
"Oh? What's wrong?" Pompom asked, her smile turning into a concerned look.
"Well, we don't have a whole lot of students take the age test, but since he is a wubbox, it was mandatory for us to do. But the answers he put on the test...It was bizarre. On the test, there was a question about a situation where someone they knew was in danger, but he answered it in such a way we had no idea someone could answer like that." Tapricorn then went under the other papers, taking out a transcript of the test. "Now, if Air was here, I'd have him look and try to see if he could give some insight if we could be reading it wrong, but you can read it as well. Maybe we could send a copy out to Air and he could send a letter with his feedback?"
"Well, Air has been having a really bad patch, and he doesn't leave our bedroom anymore, even if we ask him to. It's basically become his second home, and I have to go out every few weeks to get him a new book from the library because it's the only thing he'll do beside sleep, and he refuses to look at technology, period. He does have a phone, but he's used it once to my knowledge."
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry that's been happening. How is Shiko reacting to it?"
"He's mostly not taken a glance at it. Sometimes he'll go in to show Air something, but that doesn't happen very often." Pompom brought her hand up to touch her neck, the pink fur ruffling softly under it. "I can still look at the results, right?"
