The cafeteria of the school was packed with monsters, and just as loud as 20 lightning strikes each second. The lights were dim, and the only area not occupied was the stage, which had curtains covering what was on the other side, where they were presumably rehearsing or going over things.
It wasn't too long of a wait until the first row of curtains moved back, and their principal–Deedge–stepped forward with his arms, a microphone in one hand. He made his way to the middle of the stage, and sat down, wrapping one arm around his lower body, and bringing the microphone up.
"Goodevening, everyone!" He called out to them, and everyone began to clap and cheer. Once they calmed down, he spoke again. "I'm glad to have you all here today! I'm surprised to see so many monsters from 8th grade and over here, but it's great to see so many of you were able to attend! If you remember from the announcements and in your emails from many months ago, there was a contest where students could present a problem and an adequate solution for it, for the chance they're work could be at a national convention competition, for a chance to have it aired on TV, and 900 diamonds! That seemed to have motivated many of you to participate, and the top five our school's staff has chosen will come up here, and present their speech. We'll go in alphabetical order, and after they have spoken, they will answer questions from our four expert judges, who took a day off from their own jobs just to be here. We have Shugajo from Shugabush island, who is not only an expert in music, but also an expert at poetry and literature understanding. Next is Ziggurab, who is an expert in history, and is in many beneficial organizations who strive to help the world in every way. Then we have Epic Jeeode, who is a famous author, and very skilled in literature studies, and sees words in different ways than most. Finally, we have Epic Calavera! Though a recent addition to the world, they are an Editorial Assistant for many writers, newspapers, and magazines you've probably heard of or seen! Please give these judges a round of applause for taking time out of their day to be here."

The crowd of students roared and cheered out, claws and wings clapping in a standing ovation. It was an honor to have such important monsters out here, even if just to observe a few smart kids essays. To have them step foot in a private school was like a gift from god. The Gold Island themselves to have risen a hand and placed it's golden, luxurious touch onto them with a single claw.
Thats what Shiko saw anyways. Of course, he always believed any good thing to happen to him or anyone else was a blessing from his mother and the second. He sat behind the stage, his papers in his hands. He was finally in highschool, and at likely the biggest event in his life. He always struggled at public speaking, but maybe this will help. Maybe Pompom's incessant lessons with public speaking will actually be of use in this situation.
He decided to bring up a situation he found important. Instead of just talking about enviormental, social, or even ecenomical issues if they were to be so inclined to bring up, he decided to mash together his topic with an issue two of them had. Instead of just environmental or just social, he decided to bring up the issue–or rather question–of choosing which to do first. To address that question could mean fixing both issues instead of just one. Maybe his speech could be good enough to sway the judges' opinions. In his mind, they could have great enviorments and helpful societies, not just one or the other. You didn't need a good enviorment to hold good people, and you don't need a bad society for a bad climate. And the problem with trans monsters, or those with similar issues would need to be resolved. Not that he was himself, but the monsters that didn't feel happy in their skin should feel happy, as happy monsters led to happy workers, happy workers who want to help their world be the best it can be. How come no island ever made this kind of connection? He didn't want to sound like he was saying he was better, but this ideas was genius! But he had to hold his excitement. Just for now. He had to wait his turn, then he could go up and spew off his ideas like he was preaching a sermon. It couldn't be that hard.

Second place. That was fine. At least it wasn't last, so he was obviously heard, but his speech was just under good. Slight tweaks to his speech and he could of won. But it's no reason to be mad or pissy, because you can still get your words taken seriously, even if it was in second place. All he had to do now was wait outside for Entbrat. After their last encounter, they agreed to meet in a more formal setting, like a date.
"Shiko." A feminine voice called out to him.

Shiko turned his head, unfolding his head wings as he did. What he saw looked like a floogull, but different. Was is...A fusion? How did that happen? It was mostly a floogull, but only had two arms, a kayna's arm, volcano head, and cheek spikes.
"Um...Hello." Shiko responded back hesitantly.

"...I just wanted to say that your speak was awesome. I didn't know you actually thought that way. It doesn't help when everyone calls you delusional, does it?"

Shiko shook his head. "Nope. It's a tough journey for me in this life, but i'm making the most of what I have."

"Well that's good. At least your doing what you enjoy, right?"

"That is true. I have to make others believe. It's the only way to truely help them."

"The 'religion' thing, yeah?"

"Indeed so. It's hard, but I was gifted with a voice for a reason. To not use it would be disresepcting each opportunity mother gave me, which is a crime within it's self."

"Well, I'm also having a bad time, with bullying and threats just because i'm not common. My mom said I was even less likey to happen then an epic monster!"

"That shows you're special. Everything has a reason. You must have been born that way to show a new generation of monsters that fusions can exist. You know they only happen once every 500 years, right? That must mean mother has a special purpose for you. For now, just keep you dreams where you want them, and she'll let you know if it's correct for your pourpose."

"But how will I know the signs?"

"Mother works in mysterious ways, and theres no specific way she will always tell you. I was friends with Entbrat to make my life better, not just for social status to get to speak to higher-up monsters, but to have support and love with me and keep me steady when I get rough. That shows he was meant to help my destiny."

She chuckled, looking away. "I may not completely understand what happens in your mind, but as long as you don't use it for bad, I don't see why it's not a good thing. Maybe one day when I'm all sorted out, I can visit and maybe be with your group."

"That would mean wonders to me. To have new monsters understand means a longer life and better savior for souls to get to Gold Island, and not be stuck as ghouls, forever to roam and be in pain."

"I wish you luck with your journey, Shiko. You're gonna go far."

"Thanks...Kaygull?"

"Flare."

"Oh, Flare! My apologies."

"It's fine, everyone does it. Mostly Kaygull or Floona, but it's not my name. I'll see you around, Shiko."

They waved, and Flare took her leasure to walk off. School was over, and the bell rang to inform them of such. Shiko waited by the front door of the building where students began to flood out and make their way to the portal. Composer Island School only has one portal, and the 'portal master' which was really just a janitor, would sit outside by the portal until all students were there, then called each island by name into the portal, and the students would leave.
Shiko quickly found Entbrat, who was also looking for him. They decided this date would be on Plant Island, and Shiko would spend the night at Entbrat's house again before he went home. Shiko hadn't told Pompom about this decision, and since he didn't see it as much of a problem, he thought it would be fine. He was nearly an adult anyways, so he should be moving out soon enough.
