The device was once more thrown up to the clouds, as was now usual to happen on celestial island. And with a quick flash of lightning, Torrt was changed into his new form. He was now taller, his tail longer, and newly found hair.Though it was dark, they had lampposts around the island with the recent decorations, and they were just bright enough to reveal that hair was–not grey– but a beautiful golden blonde.
Not only did he look different, he felt different, as if his troubles and worries had been put aside, in favor of a new calm. Did Loodvigg and Scaratar feel the same way when they changed as well?
The lightning did not seem to affect him, as if it was just a small pelt of rock along with lots of rain. The rain felt quite refreshing, especially with how warm it was today.
"Torrt, come over here." Kayna spoke out to him through the rain, bringing her arm towards herself.
Torrt gently stepped over, and stopped when he was just one step away.
"So, kind of like Loodvigg, you were also sent a letter for this occasion. Perhaps this'll become a trend among celestials." She chuckled, handing him the letter."It seems likely." He nodded gently, then took the letter and put it under his arms. "I'll open it when I get back inside. I'm sure you guys are busy, correct?"
"Yeah. H-How did you know?" Kayno asked with a bit of confusion.
"I can sense that kind of thing. You guys can go off back to your work, and we'll be off your scales."
"Alright, be safe." Kayna waved to him.
"We will, don't you worry!" Torrt smiled and waved back to them as they turned, and began boarding their ship once again.
Torrt began making his way back inside. Once he stepped onto the newly made porch of their building, he began to shake some water from his shell before he stepped in, and dried his feet off as the rug.
"Woah! Torrt!" Scaratar exclaimed with a smile. "When were you a blondie?"
"You're huge now!" Glaishurr laughed with surprise.
"You look so cool!!" Plixie smiled, his wings buzzing, and his arms shaking as he also struggled to stay still.
Attmoz looked out the door briefly, and saw Sooza from a distance on the ship. Once she noticed him, she waved. He waved back with a smile, then moved back as Torrt carefully stepped into the building and closed the door behind him.
"Thank you all for the compliments, but I'll say I'm as tired as Cherubble. I'll open this letter, then I'll be off to bed.""Oh Torrt, not even coming for dinner? Loodvigg said he was taking food duties tonight." Scaratar told him, a bit disappointed he would be leaving so soon.
Torrt sighed. "Fine, I guess I'll stay up just a bit longer. But after that, I'm going to sleep."
"Much obliged." She nodded gently, and the others began to make their way to the kitchen-dining-living room.
Since Loodvigg had gotten his new form, the fire monsters that came around frequently decided they should expand the building a bit for the bigger additions they would bring. It was pretty easy, so they were able to take out the wall, expand it a bit more, put the wall back, and a few more appliances, and add a porch for the front door, then put a table by the back door. In that backroom expansion, they gave the kitchen-dining room a living room as well.
Torrt sat down at one of the tables in the dining area, and took the letter into his claws. Once he broke the wax seal, he saw a letter, and a string necklace that held many seashells. Along with it, there was a letter.
"Hey, Torrt! This is Quarrister, and we hope you accept this gift of appreciation! We heard the celestials are getting new forms, and we hope this necklace will show our appreciation! Wishing good luck - Quarrister""Oh, how sweet of them!" Scaratar commented with a smile.
"It's very nice. I wonder where they had gotten the seashells. They are on earth island, where there's barely any water except in the ocean below." Torrt wondered.
"Well, perhaps they got some from a water island just because they're colorful. It's really kind of them to do so." Scaratar speculated.
"Well, I just can't wait to see what Plixie looks like! He's probably gonna look so cool!" Glaishurr said excitedly.
"Oh, I hope I look good! Goodness, I'm so nervou-xited!" Plixie wondered, his wings buzzing up again, and he kept patting the table with his hands. "A-And Torrt, I'm really surprised you actually have blonde hair! Your hair has been grey since you were reawoken!"
"I didn't know it either. I just thought it would be longer and the same dark grey."
"Well, it seems long enough to braid if you want me to braid it!" Scaratar chuckled.
"That would be very nice, but maybe in the morning, because I will be going to sleep after this." Torrt replied with a small smile.
"Just fine with me!" Scaratar said with enthusiasm.
They all paused when they heard a shout, then a door slamming. It was in the hallway, and they knew who it was. They heard the clicking of his step, and around the corner walked Vhamp. This time, a new scratch upon his pipes, and a sorrowful look in his eyes, as he tried to hide his face from them.
"Vhamp! What happened?" Scaratar asked with concern, her red shell parting to let her clear wings stretched out for a split second.
"Nothing. I-W..it's fine." Vhamp replied quickly.
"Vhamp, i'm telling you, you need to stop trying to help her! She's only gonna keep hurting you. As long as your under her control, she'll use you until you're nothing but ash." Torrt told him sadly.
"No! I'm getting close to helping her!" He turned to Torrt with a tone of annoyance. "She's starting to open up about it, and I can get her to talk to everyone else about it!"
"Vhamp," Torrt spoke his name firmly, "you're not helping her. She's not going to change. It's been years, and you've never had progress."
"You just don't understand her like I do! I know what she's been through, and it's starting to get better! Don't you want everyone to be happy? Then let me do my job!"
"Helping her shouldn't be your job! Vhamp, we're getting worried, please just come out and see us more often." Scaratar tried to plead with him.
"Please, bro. It's really getting hard to see you with new scratches everyday because of her. Just let her sit on the back burner for a bit, ok?" Glaishur tried to reason with him.
"No. I'm helping her. I'll fix her in my own way. You'll never understand." Vhamp growled, then turning to step away and back into the hall. "Nice hair, Torrt." He commented with an attitude.
Eventually, he stepped away, and closed his room door behind him.
Torrt sighed as he looked back at the necklace he had been given.
He was sad that Vhamp was shutting himself away, but he was going to float his own boat. He undid the clip of the necklace, then pulled it back to fasten it around his neck. The shells hung off, and clinked with each other like hollow stones. It seemed to shine in the light above them, like a gentle rainbow of colors. The room was now silent, except for the sound of Loodvigg making dinner. It didn't seem like he had reacted at all to the argument.
