Everyone was out in the courtyard, a gentle, warm, and bright sunlight welcomed them into the nice outside.
Everyone was either chatting, playing games, exercising, or sleeping in the calm, quiet outside. Though the tall and grey walls were fenced in and topped with barbed wires, they were glad to be outside. Everyone on their floor got to go out for three hours a day, same as everyone else on the other floors, but different.

The first floor got outside for the first three hours before and during breakfast, then they got it for the short time before and during lunch, then the third floor got it at the end of the day with dinner. The first floor had monsters with less sentences, the second floor with more serious and longer charges, and the bottom floor for those who may be in there the rest of their lives, or just more than ten years.

Earth, luckily and unfortunately was on the second floor, but was going to be there for seventeen years. He was originally charged with manslaughter, assault of the elderly and disabled, and treason. He would be there for a very long time.

But now, with the recent event of being attacked to near death, and almost dying to save himself from direct death by catching onto the cliff, he wasn't the same, and everyone on his floor took notice.

Rare Clavaera, Hyhehe, Epic Quarrister, a Rare Mammott, a clamble, a rare clamble, a posse of furcorns, and a reedling–who were on his floor as well then hatched a plan to find out what happened, and to make him feel more comfortable and safe after what happened.

The reedling carefully stepped over, and sat down by his head as he looked off into the distance of nothingness.
"So, Earth, what happened?" It asked.

Earth did not reply with words, instead placing his hand to his open-wound which revealed his core, and showing it was not too far from a similar size as his own drill. And he lifted his tail up, attempting to make a rattling noise, but nothing happened, as it was nearly ripped completely off.
"Who did this to you?" It asked again.

"...Me.." Earth barely croaked out.

"You..did this to yourself?"

Earth shook his head. "Copy.."

"Boys, leave him alone, he's been through enough." An epic Dandidoo—who was a nurse—spoke out.

"Do you know what happened to him?" Hehehe asked her.

"Oh...So he was taken out for an important mission on the mirror islands, which are in the pocket dimension with magical sanctum and ethereal islands. The mirror islands are the first five natural islands, but are different and evil. He was the only one with major injuries from his 'alter.' We can find anything that'll help him go back to normal." Epic Dandidoo informed them.

"Well, he does seem pretty bummed about his tail." A furcorn acknowledged

"But how are we supposed to fix it?" Epic Quarrister asked.

"Well, I remember being bored one day, so I counted every segment of his tail. There were thirteen." Clamble added.

"Yeah, and remember when he got his tail stuck in a fence that one time, and when it broke, he freaked out, but it eventually grew back? I took the segments of the tail, and found it had a weird structure which made its sound. If I could draw on something, I could sketch it out." Rare Clamble informed them.

"But how is any of this going to help him?" An epic furcorn asked with a growl.

"We could make a temporary replacement, because it will take much longer to grow back ten segments of the rattle than just three. Maybe he'll start being normal again!" Rare Clamble suggested.

"We don't have access to replacement parts and materials, so how are we going to do this on our own?" Rare Calavera asked.

"Hmm. Let me bring back my notebook, and I'll see if the other medical monsters think we can do it." Epic Dandidoo then spoke out, turning around to quickly head back inside.

About two weeks later or so...
Earth laid in his usual spot, this time sulking in the cafeteria instead of the outside. The others had finally gotten his temporary replacement made, now all they had to do was find a way for him to want to put it on.

He refused to listen to anyone, and would swat at them if they got too close, as of recently. Maybe the sadness had worn off, and he was back to his regular anger. No one else had the courage to go up to him, afraid that–with his newly added hand with claws–he would strike them.

Only rare Calavra had the courage to inform him and keep him from freaking out, thinking the rest were overreacting. Once she got close to him, she bent down, and gave him a little nudge on his shoulder.

Earth slowly looked over to her, a glare in his eye, and a growl rumbling from him.
"Calm down, we have something for you." She spoke in a soft voice to him.

Earth then sat up to his knees still growling with annoyance. "Why should I care?" He snarled back, his tail attempting to hiss once again as it shuddered side-to-side.

"Oh, I thought you would want your tail, but whatever, I'll go." She shrugged, and started to turn back around.

"W-Wait, my tail? W-What do you mean..?" He suddenly calmed down at the sound of getting his tail back.

She looked back at him silently for a moment. "Oh, you know, we made a plastic replacement for your tail, since we know it'll take a long time for it to grow back, but you wouldn't want it."

His tail started to shake again. "I-I do! I...I'm sorry." Earth looked away with a bit of embarrassment for being angry at her.

Rare Calavera looked back at the group with a sly smirk.
The others then walked over to him, the epic Dandidoo and the rare Clamble moved over to his tail. They were quickly able to attach it to the end of his tail, and once they were done, they stepped back. "There we go!" The epic Dandidoo smiled.

Earth looked back, and saw the blue, plastic replacement sitting on the end of his tail. It was held by a metal piece which was held strong with a strong piece of string wrapped many times over to ensure it would not come loose very easily.

He flicked his tail, then let it shake and rattle once again, sounding nearly identical to his. He seemed to smile like a giddy child–the first time anyone had seen him genuinely, happy smile in years.

"T-Thank you!" Earth smiled at the epic Dandidoo.

"Yup! Always here to help!" He smiled back.
