REGULUS ARCTURUS BLACK

"You are the dancing queen, young and sweet only seventeen," Marlene belted out in the marauders dorm. Her, Regulus, James, Aidan, and Hezekiah were all sitting in there. They could all hear the music blasting from the common room downstairs from the party. Today was Lily's 17th birthday and they had all decided to throw a school wide party to celebrate.

Marlene pretended to hold out a mic to a slightly tipsy Hezekiah who continued to belt out the song, "Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah."

He pretended to pass the mic to Aidan who reluctantly and with a lot less enthusiasm continued the song, "You can dance, you can jive. Having the time of your life."

"Ooh, see that girl. Watch that scene, digging the dancing queen," the three of them all belted out drunkingly and terribly out of pitch.

Regulus burst out laughing at their terrible singing. James cheered them on as Marlene stood and pretended to bow at the applause. "Thank you very much, kind sir."

James let out a little laugh before he clapped his hands together. "Alright now get the hell out of my dorm and go get wasted. Captains orders. Go bring your terrible singing elsewhere."

"Yes, dad," Aidan teased drunkingly. Regulus thought that Aidan did not need more alcohol.

Regulus took a sip of his own drink as his three teammates left the room. The fire whiskey burned his throat as he swallowed it. "Are you going downstairs too, Reg?"

He shook his head. "No, I was going to stay up here a bit longer if that's fine with you. It's pure chaos down there."

"Of course," James replied as he sat down next to Regulus on the floor at the foot of his bed. "I mean it's not like you exactly have a dorm to go too. I'm sure Aidan will have some girl in there any minute now."

"That's usually how it goes at parties," he replied with a sigh. "Don't you do the same thing?"

James quickly shook his head. "What?! No. Definitely not. I- I don't do the hook up thing at parties."

"You've never brought a girl in here at a party?"

"Considered I don't-," James quickly cut himself off for some reason. Regulus flashed him a very confused look. "No, I haven't."

He nodded slowly. An awkward tension had settled in between them for some reason. "Are you taking someone to the Valentines dance?"

JAMES FLEAMONT POTTER

"Mary and I are going as friends," he answered truthfully.

James studied the other boys expression at his response and something flashed in Regulus's expression. Jealousy? No it wasn't that. That was ridiculous. Regulus didn't like him back. Right? "That's nice I suppose."
