Epilogue

THE ENGAGEMENT

Harry watched from the hill as his papa got down on one knee. They were on the beach beside their inherited mansion in France.

"Veux-tu m'épouser?" James asked Harry's father in French.

"Oui, oui, je le ferai," Regulus answered with a shaky exhale as he grabbed Harry's papa by the face and connected their lips into a kiss.

Beatrix, Ron, Draco, and Aidan Jr. cheered loudly and the twins bolted down to throw their arms around their parents. Sirius, Remus, Narcissa, Lily, and Kian were both crying.

Harry felt an arm slip around his waist and he looked to his side to see Cedric beaming at him. Harry returned the smile before resting his head on his boyfriend's shoulder.

"Are you going to go down there and join the family hug?" Cedric asked him softly.

Harry didn't respond immediately, instead choosing the savor this moment. He picked his head up and stepped in front of Cedric, connecting their fingers together as he reached for his hand. "If you come with me."

Cedric was quick to object. "I- I couldn't. It's a family moment. I would feel like I'm intruding. I mean your parents just got engaged. It's a special moment that should be shared with your family."

Harry gave him a slight tug on the hand. "Come, you are practically part of this family now, Ced."

He could see the way those words affected Cedric. He looked at him so much love. "I love when you say shit like that, Harry."

"I know," Harry grinned as he pulled Cedric with him down the hill to the beach.

"Get over here you two!" James yelled to them as tears streamed down his face.

They both joined the big family hug.

"I can't believe you just proposed to me in French," Regulus sobbed.

"Well we are in France after all," James stated in a terrible French accent.

Regulus shook his head laughing and Harry grinned at his siblings as they shared a look.

THE WEDDING

Regulus sat down next to Kian on the bench by the dance floor.

He watched his husband and kids as they all danced crazily. James was dancing with the twins. Harry was dancing with Cedric, a look of pure love on his face. Regulus watched as the young couple slowly made their way to James and the kids, all five of them dancing together now.

"Look at us, the final two," Kian stated.

Regulus spotted Kian's family not far from his. They were all sharing a similar moment.

He let his head fall against the tent. "Shit, we lost so much to get here. Now we are both married and we have our kids. It's just... surreal. Like I'm the Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts, I have three kids, and I'm married to James Potter. First year me would never believe that if I told him it."

Kian gave him a smile before he let his head fall back against the tent too, sipping on his fire whiskey. "I have it all, all I have ever wanted, and yet my heart still aches for Aidan at times."

"Because he was one of those things you always wanted," Regulus told his friend. "That doesn't go away as much as you want it to."
