AN: Someone requested an imagine in which Leon pretends to love reader in order to accomplish a mission, and when she finds out, things don't go so well but Leon realises he does actually love her. I added a angsty ending since I often write happy ones, and wanted to change things up!

------------------------------------------------------

"I love you too. I just gotta brush my teeth then we can go to bed." Leon murmurs, planting a kiss to my cheek as I beam up at him, nodding as I make my way to the bedroom. I'm about to strip when I hear Leon's voice talk to someone in the bathroom next to our room. I frown, debating whether to just ignore him or investigate.

I choose the second option, only because I'm worried it could be work calling and asking for us to come in. The DSO doesn't have any respect for our home life but then again, someone's gotta save the world from mad scientists and bio organic weapons. I tip toe to the bathroom door, standing outside as I listen in.

"Yeah, she's not around. I'm not so sure about this anymore, I don't think it's necess-" Leon sighs, then there's a thud against the door as if he's leaning against it. "Yeah, she doesn't suspect anything. I'll keep at it for a bit longer, but I'm not finding anything that's incriminating."

My mind works overtime as I try to piece together the conversation. It'd obvious he was talking about me, but why? I turn around, about to head back into the bedroom when Leon suddenly opens the door, looking shocked.

"Shit, you gave me a heart attack!" He laughs, but it sounds forced, as if he's trying to brush something off.

"What was that all about? Don't lie to me." I ask, lifting my chin to show I'm not playing any games. Leon's lips purse, then he lets out a long exhale.

"It was work. There's been a mole recently leaking information, I was just telling-"

"You think it's me?" I argue, feeling a little defensive and attacked. Leon swallows, telling me everything I need to know. I finally see the bigger picture; he's been spying on me, which he could only do if he was close to me. This whole thing is- has been- a lie. Leon must notice the second I realise that because he's reaching out to me, but I back out of his reach.

"No. No you don't get to try and comfort me when your the reason I'm upset. I can't believe you're just like them, doing whatever it takes no matter who you step on!" I shout, grabbing my phone, jacket and keys as Leon follows me around the house, an explanation on the tip of his tongue.

"Y/N, I'll level with you, it was a mission at first, but I swear it's more than that now. Being with you isn't how I imagined, it's better. I can't-" Leon pleads, but I turn on him with tears in my eyes.

"I can't believe I trusted you. You know what? You can find yourself a new partner because I'm not going back to the DSO or anywhere else with you. You can tell them mission accomplished, because I'm not the mole, and they've just lost one of their best agents."

I walk out right after, glad that Leon doesn't follow me, but I can hear his panicky breaths as he finds out that he's just lost the one good thing he had.

Several Years Later

Leon POV:

I straighten my tie and fix my suit jacket, then take a deep breath before entering the room. Immediately the sounds of a celebration fill all my senses, sending my mind into overdrive as I assess the situation like the agent I am, I catch the glimpse of the host of this get together; the president. I keep roaming my eyes, seeing familiar faces I've passed during my frequent visits here at the White House in a casual mode, all smiling faces and rich outfits.
