AN: I know this imagine is inaccurate in terms of politics and such, but let's just pretend that this is the normal way things go. This imagine starts with RE4R Leon and ends with Infinite Darkness.

---------------------------------------------------------

When Leon asked me if I liked thrill rides I never expected this. I wrap my arms tightly around him, pressing my face into his shoulder blades as the wind whips my hair. The sting from the water splashes all around us as Leon manoeuvres the jet ski around falling rocks and rubble. The whole island's going to blow and if we don't hurry up we're about to go down with it. I hold back a desperate plea for Leon to go faster, and I steal a glance behind me to see the rocks clogging up the once empty space.

"Hold on!" Leon calls out. I force my eyes closed, clinging to him as the jet ski suddenly flies through the air. A small scream escapes me as we approach the open ocean, then finally the jet ski bounces back onto the water. I'm shaking as Leon drives the jet ski far enough away from the upcoming explosions, then we smoothly glide until we come to a stop. The sun shimmers on the water as Leon releases a shaky breath, turning to look at me. "You alright?" He roughly asks, after all we've been through I'm not surprised he's finally showing a little tension too. I look back at the flaming island, wondering how the hell I survived all this, then I let my eyes drift back to the answer. Leon searches my face, concern written all over his features. Since meeting we seem to keep checking in on each other, but there's more to it than meets the eye. Instantly we formed a connection, maybe it's the result of trauma or maybe it's something else, but there's no denying that we've got chemistry.

"Yeah," I finally reply, letting out a small relieved breath, "that was insane though, and a perfect way to escape this nightmare." Leon nods, letting his arms drop from the jet ski handles as I lean back, letting my shoulders slump for the first time in days. Just when I think we've got a moment of peace the entire island suddenly blows up, with a huge boom shattering the silence. Instinctively Leon's hand rests on my thigh as he tenses up ready for another fight, but nothing else happens. The water explodes too, causing it to rain down on us from the impact. I hold my hands out, letting it shower me and scarcely wash off some blood and dirt. A smile forms on my lips, knowing deep down that I'm safe once more. I notice Leon's eyes are on me, a soft expression on his face as he watches me smile. I blush at the warmth, then turn to look at the beautiful sunrise.

"Mission accomplished, right?" I mumble, feeling a sense of disappointment. Now that I'm safe there's no reason for Leon to stay with me or even seek me out. We'll probably never see each other again, and for some reason the thought saddens me.

Leon licks his lips as he gives my thigh a squeeze from where his hand still rests, I don't think he's noticed the mindless act of affection yet. "Mission accomplished...when you're home safe." His genuine smile melts my heart, and all I want to do is take his face in my hands and kiss him, but I can't, and I won't. I let myself soak in this moment, with the sun casting a soft glow on Leon and the way he's smiling at me...I'll never forget him.

"Thank you for saving me." I whisper as Leon removes his hand, getting ready to drive the jet ski wherever we're headed last.

"Don't mention it, I'm glad I met you." He replies, turning away from me. I reach out, leaning forwards to grab his hand, he tenses at the contact for a split second before loosening up, giving in to the feel of me.

"You know, I could put in a word with my dad, get you assigned to my detail?" I try, desperately attempting to never let this- us- end, but Leon shakes his head, letting out a puff of breath.

"You know why I can't Y/N," Leon says sadly, and I'm sure it's filled with regret, "I want to, but we'd never work with everyone watching us." I bite my lip to keep from begging. He's right, we can't take things further, I'm not even sure we're allowed even if we wanted to. I tug my hand back, wrapping it around Leon's middle instead in a signal that I'm ready to go.
