I lean into Leon as I laugh at Jill's impression of Chris. The man in question just crosses his arms, but looks amused regardless. Across from me, Claire is dying with laughter, tears falling from her eyes as she snorts. It's not often we're all together and can let loose, so tonight we're taking advantage of it by drinking as much as we want and shedding our jobs or pasts. Tonight, we're just a group of friends at a bar, making fun of each other and letting our guards down.

Leon's arm wraps around my shoulder, pulling me closer as I laugh into his chest. The impression wasn't overly funny, but the alcohol is getting to us, making everything twice as funnier as it usually would be. I sit up, taking a deep breath to calm myself, then finish my drink. "I've gotta pee." I announce to the group, already standing and sliding out of the booth. Leon tugs my hand, pressing a kiss to the back of it.

"I love you," He murmurs, "be quick." I nod, knowing that his deep rooted concern for me only stems from the years of betrayals and losses. I give him a loving smile, briefly hearing Claire joke about Leon as I turn and head to the bathroom.

I do my thing, then quickly check my hair and makeup in the mirror. Once all sorted and ready for the rest of the night, I head back into the bar, only to come to a full stop. All of a sudden, the place is oddly busy, massive groups of people clog up the traffic, some rowdy and others just plain drunk. I lift onto my toes, seeing our table just a little way off, but the journey to it isn't simple. I beeline around dancers and ignorant people, only to have to skid to a stop when a man steps into my path. I sigh, not irritated exactly but I really do want to just get back to my friends.

The man in front of me whistles, eyes looking me up and down slowly. I frown, looking past him and seeing my table. I'm about to go around him when he opens his mouth. "Let me get you a drink sweet thing." He rumbles.

I bite back a smile at the cheesy nickname. Politely I shake my head, pointing behind him. "Sorry, I've got a boyfriend. If you'd just excuse me-"

"I'm sure you have," he sarcastically nods, saying it in a tone that implies I'm lying, "come on, don't be hard to get."

My mouth opens in shock, I'm about to reply and tell him exactly what he's being, but I'm interrupted by a hand snaking its way around my middle. Moments later I'm met with the familiar scent of Leon's cologne. "She said she's got a boyfriend." Leon sternly tells the man, his chest presses against my back as he stands behind me, dominating my presence in a shielding way.

The man looks at Leon, and I don't know why I expected him to back down, because the man doesn't. Instead he scoffs, looking more embarrassed and defensive. "Guess she's got no standards, lucky I got outta that one."

My eyes bulge at the obvious disrespect. I'm unable to say anything from the surprise. Leon though, lets out a fake chuckle as he slips in front of me, a hand pushing me back as he puffs up his chest and clenches his jaw. "Man, you could've just nodded and walked away," Leon begins, fists now tightening, "but you go and insult my girl, now we've got a problem."

I swallow, a thrill going through me of seeing Leon like this, but at the same time I'm scared. I don't want a fight to break out. I grab Leon's arm, attempting to pull him away, but he only steps closer to the man, both chest to chest and looking furious.

"Hey!" I hear Chris call out, then he's there, getting between the two, "Get out of here." He orders the man as Leon stands his ground.

The man huffs, "Who are you to tell me what-"

Chris holds up his BSAA ID, clearly looking like someone important. The man scowls, giving me a glare, then he makes his way out. I look around, glad most of the people in the bar are oblivious to the drama going on.

"I'm sure he deserved a beating, but we've still got reputations to hold. What would it look like if you went into work on Monday with a new police record? A DSO member stooping low to a bar fight?" Chris calmy says as Leon tenses up. I nod, agreeing with Chris as I link my fingers with Leon's and begin pulling him outside.

Once out in the cooler night air, Leon tugs me to his chest, enveloping me into a tight hug. "Are you okay? He didn't touch you did he?"

I shake my head, wrapping my arms around his neck. "I'm okay, he's just an asshole with an ego. Thank you for defending me."

Leon sighs, leaning down and burying his face into the crook of my neck as he steps to the left, then the right. I let out a small laugh, realising he's trying to slow dance with me. I move with him, both of us swaying to no music as we hold each other. "I love that you're so protective of me."

Leon's shoulders slowly relax as he chuckles, a real laugh this time. "Yeah? Well I don't like it when people stare at you and treat you like you're something to look at for their own entertainment." He huffs, kissing my neck softly.

My smile grows as I tilt my head, happily signing against the feeling of his lips trailing kisses on my skin. I turn my head at the last one, meeting his mouth with my own. "I don't care if people look at me, because I'm only ever looking at you." I whisper.

Leon smiles fondly at me, until I shiver and step away. A look of worry crosses his features, then he curses under his breath and shrugs off his jacket, helping me to put it on since I left my own back in the bar. "Better?" He asks.

"Uh huh." I nod, then pull Leon back to me as we kiss some more, the taste of alcohol and mint invading my senses. After a while we draw away, now calm and no longer in the mood to party.

"Can we leave now? I don't really feel like being around everyone else after all that." Leon mumbles, eyes pleading at me. I dip my head in a nod, taking his hand.

"Yeah, let's just say goodbye to everyone then we can go home." I reply, but arch a brow at Leon's sudden grin.

"I love it when you say that." I stare at him in confusion, waiting for him to explain. "Home." He softly says.

My lips tilt upwards as I lead him back inside, where we say our goodbyes and call it a night. Once home, Leon immediately undresses us both then pulls me into bed, where we stay close and warm, tangled together.
