Mouthful of Marshmallows

AN: I know I've done a lot of these 'games night' imagines with the RE gang, but they're one of my favourite things to write since they're so cosy and cute. So once again, here we are spending the evening with Leon, Jill, Chris, Claire and Rebecca being competitive and joking around. Marshmallow lovers are gonna enjoy this one...

---------------------------------------------------------

The whole living room buzzed with happiness and anticipation. Our cosy apartment has been transformed into a battleground of laughter and competition rather than sophistication and relaxation. This games night has been long awaited, and Leon and I have been preparing for it for weeks, trying to gather all of our friends for a night of monster-less bonding. Jill, Chris, Claire and Rebecca all sit on the floor with us around the coffee table, where a variety of drinks and snacks sit, along with a few card games and props for some upcoming ridiculous challenges I found online.

I steal a glance at my boyfriend, who winks at me from across the table with a mischievous look in his eyes. I shake my head, smirking as I hold my ground. Out of all of the group Leon and I are the most competitive, so it's only fair we split and go against each other tonight. Our first and my most anticipated game is simple, the winner is the person who can fit the most marshmallows in their mouth without chewing or swallowing. Rebecca pulled out beforehand, insisting that it's a terrible idea, whereas the rest of us are all in.

"Are you all ready?" Leon asks, opening the bag of marshmallows for us all. Claire nods with enthusiasm as Jill arches a brow, Chris is too busy eating one of the marshmallows early on to give a response.

"Yeah, we should take it in turns so we can count for each other." I suggest, so we all go with my idea. Claire goes first, stuffing them in until Jill begins to pull a face, then finally Claire gives, stopping when her eyes widen, then they all come tumbling out. Chris is next, determined to beat his sister, however after only a few he begins to chew, forgetting that he's not supposed to be enjoying them. Jill grabs a single marshmallow, popping it into her mouth then shrugging, taking last place already. When it's down to Leon and I, our friends begin cheering, especially when Leon and I throw petty insults at each other.

"Your mouth is already full of bad jokes, so I guess I'll take the lead." I laugh, then immediately I stuff a marshmallow into my mouth strategically, because I definitely didn't research the easiest way to win this...

Leon hums in response, then shoves a marshmallow into his own mouth, tilting his head at me as if egging me on. The next few minutes are full of laughter and praise, with Rebecca watching us both, ready to pat us on the back at any second. Leon's cheeks puff up like a chipmunk as he struggles to cram in more marshmallows, and I struggle to contain my giggles as I watch him, his eyes wide as he pulls some faces as if to expand his cheek size. I'm determined to win, so with the last three marshmallows I shove two of them into my mouth, almost gagging at how full it is. I stare at Leon, silently battling with him.

"Come on, Leon! You can do it!" Claire cheers, clapping her hands as Leon throws her an incredulous look.

"I'm trying!" Leon mumbles through a mouthful of marshmallows, sending everyone into another round of laughter as one tumbles out. Then another. Then finally he gives up, chewing and chewing and swallowing as they go down the hatch. I grin with my victory, but then suddenly the marshmallows in my own mouth begin to dribble out.

The games only continued from there. We all tried to balance the most spoons on our faces (Rebecca won using science none of us understood) then we tried to make each other laugh with the silliest jokes, which soon turned to noises and acts. It was a draw between Jill and Leon, the only two who could crack funny jokes whilst remaining reserved and in control. The night soon flew past as we all laughed and talked, enjoying each others company and just being ourselves for once. Leon and I became the main event, with everyone watching our silly interactions and asking us about our relationship and life together.

Eventually, we all grew tired, and began to unwind by just lounging around eating. "Looks like Y/N takes the crown of the first challenge." Chris smiles as he passes me one of the plastic crowns I bought from the store for tonight. I bow my head, laughing as he puts it on me, and everyone claps enthusiastically. it's so silly, but compared to our usual lives it's just fun.

Leon, ever the good sport, bows dramatically at me as Rebecca places a cute tiara on her head for the spoon challenge. "Congratulations sweetheart, you're truly the queen of ridiculous challenges." He says with a playful grin. I shrug, patting his head.

"Thank you, my humble subject. I shall rile with marshmallow-filled cheeks and laughter for all." I tease. Meanwhile Jill passes Leon the crown for the laughter challenge. Leon takes it, placing it on his head with a sense of pride only he could pull off.

Claire, with a sly smile, nudged Chris. "Looks like we need to step up our game for the next games night."

"Challenge accepted." Chris chuckles.

As the night came to a close and all our friends left, Leon pulls me close, eyes full of love. "Tonight was good, I'm glad you're here to force me into these things."

I huff a laugh, but kiss him anyway. "Me too, it's good for us all to just be fun and silly for once." Leon rests his head on my shoulder as we observe the mess to clean up, the echoes of our fun still linger as we tidy up everything then fall into bed, chuckling and talking about tonight's antics whilst still wearing our crowns.
