AN: I saw the cutest video on booktok/biketok the other day and wanted to write an imagine based off of it, so here's a little self-indulgent biker Leon and bookworm reader imagine.
Ps: Shout out to my fellow booktok/ reader girlies! 🫶📚❤️
-----------------------------------------------------------As soon as Leon stops at the red light, I tap his shoulder and point across the road to the bookstore. He grabs my thigh, giving it a squeeze before nodding in understanding. The light turns green and he turns the bike left into the car park. A giddy sense of excitement fills me at the prospect of getting some new books, and I'm sure Leon's currently debating his relationship choices, knowing I'm going to spend ages dragging him around and pointing out every single book I've read, but then again we've done this numerous times before and he's never complained.
The second we're parked I jump off of the bike, urging Leon to hurry as he chuckles and flips the visor up on his helmet. I do the same, then grab his hand as I drag him into my favourite place on Earth. It immediately smells like paper and cleanliness, there's rows upon rows of brand new books just waiting for me to buy them, but Leon pulls back and stops me from adventuring for a second.
"I hate to rush you baby, but don't forget we're supposed to be meeting our friends in an hour." Leon reminds me with a knowing smile on his lips. My mouth turns downwards for only a second, until I see a table filled with some books I've read. I nod, dismissing his words as I rush to the table, pointing at the series I'm planning to read soon whilst rambling on about them.
"I've read the first few of this series but haven't got around to getting the new ones yet." I tell Leon as he leans over and looks at the covers.
"I don't know what any of these are." He replies, picking one up and reading the back. I smile, then turn to see one of my favourite books newly published in a special edition.
"No way, I need this!" I gasp, plucking up the book with purple edges in hardcover, the gothic black rose on the front is gorgeous and as I flick through my smile widens at the artwork.
"Haven't you already got that one?" Leon asks, standing behind me as he gently places a hand on my hip, his head leans close to mine as he looks at the dark academia romance in my hands. I turn and give him an incredulous look.
"Uhhh yeah, but it's so pretty, and it's one of my favourites." I reply, then tuck it to my chest as I walk further down the row of shelves. Leon trails behind me, listening to me talk about various bodyguard romances and faerie smut until I find a series I've been meaning to get. I immediately crouch down and grab all the books from the author, frowning as I stare at the spines and try to work out the order of the series, but in the end I decide I'll get them all.
I vaguely hear Leon mutter a "Dear god" behind me at the stack now in my arms, but he doesn't protest at my planned purchases. I throw a smile at him, then turn to the spicier books, which Leon knows I love to read. He walks ahead, picking one out that I've read but is high on smut, he starts thumbing through the pages and I straight away put my hand over the words, blushing at the thought of Leon reading it.
"You don't have to read the inside-" I start, but Leon embrassingly begins to read the scene out loud, which of course happens to be a spicy and very dark scene. What makes it worse is that he isn't even teasing me, he's genuinely interested in the kind of books I read.
"No, no, I think that's enough." I laugh, pulling it out of his hands as he grins at me and holds his hands out in a surrender. I put the book back then scan the shelves again to find something new, but when I turn back Leon's already reading another book.
"Really? You don't need to see that." I blush deeper, shuffling the books in my arms as I once again take the book from him, but instead of putting it on the shelf I add it to my pile instead, earning a sly look from my boyfriend. We continue to look for another few minutes until I go to grab yet another book with a questionable cover, then Leon gently pries the stack from my arms and places my new one on the top, eyes narrowing at the half naked man staring back at him.
"Please don't look in that one." I mumble, turning away so he can't see my flaming cheeks. Just as I look back at my stack to see how many I've got, Leon notices me and says "You can pick out a few more."
My eyes light up, and I rush forward to attempt to give him a quick hug, excitedly saying "Thank you so much" before disappearing around the corner. Once done, Leon's holding a stack that nearly touches his helmet, then he pays for them all and places them in our backpacks. The books barely manage to fit, but they do, and then Leon takes my hand and leads me outside back to the bike.
"I love spoiling you, but don't forget me when you're reading about your billionaires and bodyguards." Leon grins, pulling me to his chest for a long hug. I laugh, shaking my head as I slide my hands into his back pockets.
"I couldn't possibly forget you. Besides, we're doing a buddy read with that book you were checking out." I wink. Leon's eyes widen for a second until he smirks knowingly.
