AN: In this request Reader gets bitten at the RPD whilst Leon is trying to protect her. I've written it so there's a happy ending♡
---------------------------------------------------------I follow close behind Leon, his back is pressed to my chest as I nervously peer over his shoulder, my breath loud in the silence of Raccoon City Police Department. Leon glances at me, silently checking on me, so I give him a small smile, knowing that as long as we're together it makes this situation much more manageable. Leon steps forwards, then we pass a humming vending machine as we cross the corridor and stand in front of the West Office door.
"Should we go in?" I whisper, looking behind me as I hear a groan from one of the undead around somewhere. Leon licks his lips, debating on his move.
"Yeah, at least we'll be in an enclosed space where we can see all exits." He mumbles, gripping the door knob. I stand back, giving him space, then he swings open the door as he raises his gun, pointing at the group of undead inside. It's too late to run back though, because Leon's already marching in and I'm following, both of us trapped as soon as the door closes behind us, locking automatically. I curse, jiggling the knob as Leon begins to shoot down the undead. A panic surges through me at the idea of being stuck in here, then out of the corner of my eye I see one of the zombies lunge for me. I yelp, stumbling back and right into the arms of another. It's arms grab me, strangely strong as I wriggle and elbow it, but it doesn't feel the pain.
"Y/N!" Leon urgently shouts, fighting his own group of undead to get to me. His knife swings as his gun shoots, but it's not enough. As if in slow motion, the zombie in front of me drags itself to me as the other still grips me, then a rotten mouth hovers over my shoulder before clamping down. I scream, shoving it with all my strength. We all fall, and I'm surrounded by the undead on the floor, crawling backwards and hitting a pair of legs. I scream again, but Leon suddenly crouches down, pulling me behind him as he shoots the undead that are attacking me. Silence fills the room, the aftermath settling in now as tears stream down my face, I'm in a state of shock and pain.
"Oh fuck." Leon mumbles, kneeling down as he reaches into his pocket, pulling out some kind of medicinal liquid and some gauze. He pours it on, then presses it to my shoulder as I cry out, his face wincing apologetically as his other hand clutches mine. My vision blurs, but I blink to stay conscious. He's then grabbing some bandages, wrapping up my wound as I tremble, eyes glued to the floor.
"I'm going to die here." I whisper, numbness taking over me, apart from the throbbing of my shoulder. Leon's eyes snap up, meeting mine fiercely.
"No you're not," He says with confidence, "we're getting out of here. You won't turn, I know it." He adds, but that sounds a little less sure. I pinch my lips together, knowing what happens to people who get bit, but a part of me is in denial. I'll stay alive, maybe I won't turn. I'll keep going, and if...if it happens, we'll deal with it then. Leon must have the same thoughts, because he doesn't comment further on the effects of the bite, instead he stands, bending down to pick me up and set me back onto my feet. I stumble, leaning against him as he wraps an arm around me, frowning at my disorientation.
"I'm okay, just woozy." I murmur, then give him an extra nod just to affirm it. We continue our search of the station, looking for a way out or even survivors, but all we find are dead bodies walking around, and the rooms in utter chaos. Leon's being more silent than before, and when we finally collect the medallions to get underground, I pull him aside. We're temporarily safe in this bunker-like room, the staircase back up now blocked by the statue again, but there's a light overhead that allows me to see Leon's guilt ridden expression.
"Talk to me." I whisper, reaching up with my good arm to cup his jaw. His eyes flutter closed at my touch, but he turns his head away from me.
"I've failed you. I should have protected you better, I shouldn't have just gone it without checking-" Leon painfully says, but I shake my head, moving aside to once again stand in front of him. His blue eyes open, focusing on the bandaged wound on my shoulder. "It's my fault."
"No, it isn't." I reply, stroking a thumb over his cheekbone, his hand cups over mine as he squeezes in reassurance, "There was no way to get to me, and I couldn't fight back. I'm not a superhero cop like you," I weakly smile, reaching up to press a kiss to his lips, "you're still here with me, and that's what matters."
Leon inhales slowly as if calming himself down, then he nods, leaning down to kiss me again. I arch into him, placing a hand on his chest when it gets too deep. His lips turn up a little as I let out a small laugh, both of us are so lovestruck, but then some kind of loud banging nose comes from below us. Leon's smile falters, so I take his hand in mine, pinning him with a look. "It's already been two hours, we need to keep moving, especially if..." I lead off, not needing to voice my possible turning. Leon nods, then leads the way again, but before we reach the elevator he stops, staring at the floor as he speaks.
"No matter what happens, I'll be by your side, even if—" he begins, his voice trailing off as he struggled to find the words to express his concerns, so I just squeeze his hand, then tug him forwards. No matter what happens, I'll try and guide him as far as I can go, keeping him alive so he can at least escape for the both of us, and live for me.
The next hour is a mess. We fight creatures from labs and find samples of the virus that did all this, then miraculously we find a working train and escape just as a series of explosions rock the tracks, flames erupt behind us as I slump against Leon's chest, my body nestled between his legs. I'm still alive, and feeling surprisingly well considering I should be a flesh eating monster by now. I frown, peeling off the bled through bandages only to find that my wound looks like it's healing, and fast. I gasp, and straight away Leon tenses up, his hands swat mine out of the way gently so he can lean down and take a look, his sharp inhale beside my ear shows me he sees the same thing.
"It's...healing? You don't feel ill or anything, do you?" Leon asks nervously as I turn my head to look up at him. I shake my head, licking my dry lips due to exhaustion from the constant running and fighting.
"No, it just feels like I've been bitten, by like, a regular crazy person." I murmur, eyes widening in amazement at the blatant fact befalling me. "It's just a theory but, I think it didn't affect me, that could mean I'm immune." I whisper. Leon's eyes find mine, then his lips curve as his arms wrap around me, I hold his embrace, my hands squeezing his wrists as the train speeds along. His lips peck my head as we stay like that, relieved we're alive and clearly well, and we're together.
