Chapter 39 - Gala ready

Esme's POV

It's been a whole month properly since I gave birth, my figure is slowly going back to normal now that I have started my training sessions again. Something I couldn't wait for when I had had our son.
Tomorrow is the annual Gala that Jaxon's pack have held every year. Something about this makes me stomach churn in a good way now that he has his Luna here with him. Something about his presence makes me feel more at ease about all of this seems how our old pack is going as well. My old mother and father will be there too and she's been adamant about seeing me.

Like that's ever going to happen.

"You alright princess?"

I turn my body around upon noticing Jaxon's voice behind me and I now only realise I've been in my own world for quite some time. Especially if he's asking me if I'm alright. I mean I am but at the same time I'm not I guess I haven't been away from Reggie since he's been born unless Jaxon is there himself and that's even a short shower usually so to go all night without him is a lot. But I trust the ladies here who love working in the nursery at night. I know he's safe especially seems how he's Heir to be the next Alpha of our pack!

"Yeah babe I'm okay. Just thinking about tomorrows event and how long I'll be away from our boy that's all"

Jax stands from his chair and walks towards me sitting on the sofa, he props himself down and then lifts me to straddle him. I don't complain I compel myself to behave and not think of anything while hes working.

"I know princess but he's going to be fine and we have the whole night to dance and have fun as well as sleep all night unless..."

"Unless what" I say while grinning like a little schoolgirl about to get her favourite candy from the shop. Never happened with me because my parents were never around for us twins. But I can only imagine and I can only give our son the life that was stripped from me and my brother, I can only give him the love and affection I longed to crave for on nights when I was poorly or nights when I spent it awake helping Finn and clearing up sick when he's ill too. I don't really think about that much anymore I guess. But tonight I do.

"Unless you plan on taking me all night long" he says while his hands are on my thighs under my dress, hoovering for what feels like a scene about to unfold from a film in a sex scene.

"Well...there's many things I can do to you but you'll just have to wait and see babe won't you"

With that I leave him with his erection at full force, mainly just to wind his ass up and make him wait until tonight and stand up and walk towards his desk to get my laptop so I can continue my work.

It's already 4 o'clock and Jax went to get our little man from nursery but he probably ended up taking him to go and see Mama and Gramps which isn't a bad idea because it gives me 5 to just send of a few emails in peace and to respond to the requests about tomorrow.

Everything is near enough as damnit in set until I find an email from the only arrogant jerk there is.

"What's up princess? Have you gotten your emails done?"

"Well...yes and no. There's one more email that I need to respond to but I want your opinion first" I say while biting my thumb nails in front of my computer screen.

"Okay. Go ahead"

"Okay so it's an email from another pack.

'Good afternoon Esme.
I'm writing to inform you that the request to attend the gala is accepted on our behalf. Me my mate and 15 other pack members will be attending. If you could please ensure that some of the food is vegan as my mate is vegan that would be highly appreciated. Would we be attending your rooms for the weekend as well so I know to let people know to pack a bag or not. If we could it would be great.

I wait in response to Jaxon only to feel more...anxious now that he hasn't said anything. Is he annoyed at me for disturbing daddy son time? Is he annoyed with the email.

"No I'm not annoyed princess. I mean...not at you but that email is cutting it fine. I can't tell the staff to do a singular plate of vegan Bullshit and then have them expect to stay here. Who sent the email?"

"Alpha Dylan Langley..."

"He's taking the fucking piss. So he expects us to play host?"

"He sure does...and I'm not sure how to feel about that"

"Say no. Reply back to the email and in a politer way to how I'm wording it but tell him to fuck off and she can starve"

I laugh at his dismissal to that pack. He's not been there treaty for a while now and it feels good to have him out of our lives but somehow he will always be there.

"On it babe. How is it with our boy? are you good?"

I sit back down properly and begin typing out my response. How to word it without sounding like Jaxon is quite a task in its self.

'Good after Alpha.

I'm glad you accepted our response again, we previously got a response from your mate 3 weeks ago about attending and there wasn't a mention of any dietary requirements.

Unfortunately everything is in place now and I can't rearrange the catering as it's too short notice.
As for the staying at our pack we already have a fair few other packs taking the rooms here so again I'm sorry but there isn't any room for your pack to accommodate here.

The night goes smoothly and me and Jaxon chill out in bed once little man's asleep and I can't help but wonder if my email to Dylan was alright or not. Jax said it was and I believe him but he's biased. Course he's biased.
We fall asleep knowing that I'm now basically Gala ready for tomorrow! Everything's done, checks have been made and people have their tasks ready for the day. Roll on tomorrow night.

"I love you Jax"
I say this knowing my hearts full and my life is becoming complete.

"I love you too princess. Get some sleep"

And he doesn't need to tell me twice. My eyes are already heavier. Thank goodness.
