Chapter 57 - Truths

Esme's POV 

This morning has been nothing but chaotic in the pack house, Me and Finley are heading over to the Grey stones pack for a meeting with their Alpha. Alpha Luca Jones I believe his name is, he doesn't know my surname I just said Esme in my email. From the response I got he doesn't sound to bad but I couldn't be assured until I had met the man. Briefly I had met him before, he came to our pack to talk business with our old former pack leader. Robert Langley also known as Bobby Langley but we never spoke, I just heard Robert greet him by his name that's how I knew him. I put on my best outfit which was causal skinny blue jeans, a vest top tucked into my jeans and a nice top over my vest and then headed to the kitchen were I was welcomes by my family and pack members. "Good morning princess" Jaxon says as he circles around me to feed Reggie.

After breakfast me and Finley got into the car Jaxon told us to take and we headed 35 minutes south to the Grey stone pack. My nerves were kicking in but I needed to know what it was that happened between him and our mother and why he left us if he knew she had kids, I.E - Me and Finns. Pulling up to the pack we are greeted by a lady who looked no older than us and told us to call her Jessica so Jessica it was.

"So what brings you to our pack Miss...?"

"Esme" I say before also correcting myself. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude, we have a meeting with the alpha here and today was the only day we could do it" I said back, my hands tucked into my jeans pocket to stop myself from picking at my nails - It became a nervous trait since taking tablets, It's horrible but it's also something new that people often pick up. "Oh right okay. well

Jessica showed us to his office and peered inside with the words I never expected to hear from someone else who could be our father... "Dad, your appointments here" she says which is followed by a man telling her to let us in. Alpha Luca's office was quite big, probably the same size and mine and Jaxon's even though he keeps telling me I can have my own office If I wanted one but I don't, and now I am rambling because I'm nervous. He invited us in and we sat down on the chairs opposite his to discuss everything we have learnt in the last couple of weeks. Our guys had done some background checks on him and his pack background and so far everything was good. Clean which is always good.

"Good morning, to what do I owe the pleasure Miss Esme?"

"Good afternoon sir, This is Finley, My brother, and we have come from the midnight pack, Alpha Jaxon's pack." I say more or less rambling again because how do I explain why I'm here without trying to throw up. You just cant.

"I've heard of there pack. The alpha's Finally found his Luna hasn't he?" Yes sir...yes he has and guess what...your staring right at her.

"He has sir. She's great" Finley says, interrupting thankfully. "Anyway we are here because we received a letter a few weeks ago from our mother from our previous pack and we would like to run a few things by you" I say not getting into my grove. 

"Of course, what pack is it?"

"Waterside pack" and If I wasn't looking carefully enough I would have missed the gulp that he suppressed when I said that. Gotcha...

I take out the letter and I hand it over waiting patiently for him to look back over at us and when he does I can see the sadness in his eyes. "Look, we don't want nothing from you. We have a pretty good life and I am getting married but the truth is...that it's all true isn't it? You had an affair with our mother nearly 20 years ago and then you disappeared when my father found out didn't you?" I asked, Hopeful and yet also not hopeful that he will admit anything to us. I don't expect him too...were strangers but when I look at Finley and he probably has done the same since we met him I see parts of this man In my brother...Do I also look like him? or do I look more like our mother.

"It's true. I loved Elizabeth, she loved me, or so she claimed to but when Thomas fount out about it he told me to leave and never come back, that if he saw my face again he wouldn't hesitate to kill me. I was 25 at the time I didn't know she fell pregnant...with my children. So I moved, I moved back here here and took over as Alpha for my father. I didn't want to be Alpha but my brother had already said he didn't want to do it, he would rather be a gamma so I took the responsibility that I should have at 18 and stepped up.  I actually found my mate when we held the last annual ball, we had two children who are now 17 and 18. I never looked back from that day onwards"

"Thank you for being honest with us. I know it's probably shocking to hear this but let me promise you one thing, if you don't want a relationship with us we do understand. But be honest with your wife/mate, that's if you married anyway" we get up to leave, he stays seated so my guess is correct: he doesn't want us. Our mother didn't and neither does our real father. So we head out the door but were stopped by the echo of his "Wait" frantically coming out. Simultaneously we both turn around and look at Luca, the black hair is where we get the colour from seem's how we both have black hair. His height is where Finley gets his from as I'm short as fuck but I don't care, my mother was small too.

"I didn't know about you but I would like to get to know you both. When I left your mother must have only just fell pregnant because I left in June, 19 years ago and I apologise, I do. I saw you at their pack, you looked ill and beaten. I didn't pay no attention to you because I wanted to get in their and sort what I could and get out and I am so sorry"

"It's Okay Alpha, It's all in the past now. We moved shortly after that when I found my mate and then Finley over here found his too"

"Wow, that's amazing, If your okay with it I would like to introduce you to my wife, Katherine and our two children, One who you have already met, Jessica and our other daughter Rosie"

"Can I ask you something before you do that?" Finley says jumping into it before we go.

"Of course lad"
"Okay, so as you can see we have had a shit life since the ages of 13 when our mother and father threw us out, she wanted to save her marriage but he gave her an ultimatum, she sacrificed us for Thomas but what are you wanting from us if we agree to you been in our lives? Surely there's a catch"
A sigh escapes Lucas lips and I can't help but feel a sense of dread coming along. "Look I'll be honest with you, You've thrown me off pretty good, it's been a good 18 / 19 years for us here and I never knew you existed. Katherine knows of mine and Elizabeth's affair and she never held it against me, she accepted my flaws and now I have 2 other children I want in my life. I can't guarantee that everyone will be thrilled but give them time. Let me go and talk to them first and then we will come back and you can meet them yourself"
We both nod our heads but as he goes I don't know what to say, the things I thought I knew was obviously not what I was expecting.
"Thomas said he was killed, when I spoke to him years ago he said he was dead and that it would be better if we left it be...why didn't he want us to know he was alive unless he still had a secret to tell..."

"Es...I don't know but let's get through this morning and afternoon and then we will figure it all out okay"
"Yeah...okay" is at a little defeatedly.
