Chapter 31 - Esme got shot

Esme's POV

"Will you do me the honours of marrying me and becoming my wife..?"

I'm shocked, I'm speechless. I try to talk but I instead end up crying more.

"Esme?"

"Yes..." I nod my head several times pulling him up and hugging him as tightly as I can.

"Yes. I'll marry you" I said with so much emotion running through me.

"SHE SAID YES" Jaxon shouts across the room. I did not expect this at all!

The crowd erupts into a cheer and howls and laughter and soon the party is in full swing and I'm dancing with my Fiancé when I feel a tap on my shoulder. Finn is standing there waiting for me to hug him, I leap into his arms and he returns the hug and asks me if I would like to go for a walk.

I agree and let Jaxon know.

"I'm just going to go for a walk with Finn. We won't be too long. I love you"

"Alright, beautiful. Be careful and you make sure she's safe please Finley"

"Will do alpha"

We head towards the forest and he doesn't look so surprised. "Why aren't you surprised?" I ask him while still walking, admiring my ring.

"Because he woke me up this morning to ask me for permission to ask you and I said I'd be honoured for you to marry him"

We were only 15 minutes away from the pack and I was already getting tired of walking. I stand there and we're talking still as he's trailing off when I feel something warm on my belly. Finley's not looking my way but I can't talk. I can't do anything because my voice has completely gone, it's like I was trying to bring air into my lungs but it just wouldn't work. My body's froze on the spot and then I look down.

I made the general mistake of looking down because there was blood. It's a small circle of blood but it's leaking rapidly from my stomach.

"Fin" I try to shout but I don't think he's acknowledged me shouting for him.

"FINN" I shout out. He turned around just as I dropped to my knees and I let out the hardest breath I have ever had to take in. We're too far away from people to Link them and Finn is taking off his jacket to put on my belly.

Talking felt painful, breathing felt worse, My baby...I tried to tell him. But no words leave my mouth.

"Fuck! No...Goddess No...What the fuck happened! Esme, what happened?" He asks while pulling out his phone. He lets go on my stomach and tries to use his phone but it keeps slipping from his grasp as he has blood on his hands.

"I think I've been sh...shot fin," I say while coughing and crying.

"Hold on! Just stay awake Okay, Please just stay still, stay awake and keep talking to me I'm phoning Jaxon now"

"I...Don't think...I can walk very far...do you" I say while coughing and laughing. Even now, even when I am so scared I am making jokes but I don't want to die. I have so much to live for. I have so much I want to do. I have just got engaged. This can't be how it ends.

"Let's not crack jokes right now okay? Please don't sleep just keep your eyes on me" He says but his voice feels so distant I can barely see what I am looking at.

I'm lying there looking up at the sky. It's so beautiful and nearly dark I love it when it's dark. I love the stars and the happiness they bring to the sky. My eyes are leaking, I feel no pain apart from the breath I've been trying to take which is hard.
