Chapter 59 - The test result

Esme's POV 

I groaned as the shrill sound of my phone pierced through the peaceful silence of my bedroom. Glancing at the clock, I saw that it was only 6:32 in the morning. Like...Who in their right mind would call at this ungodly hour? Annoyed at the thought of losing my precious sleep seems how Delilah had kept me awake from 12:30 until 2 by babbling on her fists and blowing raspberries at who knows what. I answered the phone with a little bit more of a huff than normal.

"If this is another offer you can stick it somewhere were the sun doesn't shine" I grumbled, my voice laced with irritation and quite possibly known to the receiving party of this morning's topic.

"Good morning, Luna, Esme" a deep, familiar voice greeted me on the other end while laughing. I instantly recognized the voice of Alpha Luca, from the grey stones pack, My annoyance quickly turned into curiosity then mortification. Why was he calling me at this hour?

"Alpha Luca? I am so sorry, Is everything okay?" I asked, my voice now laced with concern.

He chuckled lightly. "Everything is more than okay, Esme. The DNA test results came back today, Is there a chance we can come down to your pack early this morning to discuss everything in person? I would rather not talk over the phone"

My heart skipped a beat at his words. The DNA test. The three words that have been on my mind for the last 12 hours, The one that would determine if this letter my mother sent was true or if it was all lies like everything else she ever did and said. I had been waiting for this day for what felt like an eternity and In actual facts it had only been 6 years. 6 years since we was told that Thomas wasn't our father, admiration settled in the pit of my stomach that he wants to come here and discuss it with us and I hope he brings the other people in his life. They seem great people. I was beyond nervous, my emotions in a jumbled mess as I spoke.

'Luna Esme?' Alpha Luca's voice brought me back to reality.

'Yes, sorry. I'm just a little nervous, of course. Me and Finley will meet you at the gates when your close by, when are you leaving?" I admitted to my nerves but he didn't question them, he was probably feeling the same even though he was the one with the results. whether he has opened them or not I don't know.

'Don't be, we will be leaving in 15 minutes so within the hour we will arrive at your pack. Don't worry, whatever has come of these results we will work it out together" he reassured me.

"Thank you, Alpha Luca. I'll see you at the pack house later," I said before ending the call and scrambling to get up, Jaxon holding me back for a moment and I know why, he knows me better than I know myself and I would have my top on the wrong way round and I wouldn't be of any use to anyone if I was a complete mess so I laid back and had a moment with my soon to be husband...which turned into 20 minutes of making out in bed but hey...it helped. I rush to get dressed and I do it with ease as I have to be downstairs with the kettle on so I can have a coffee before it all goes pear-shaped. I had mind linked Finley to get dressed and hurry downstairs because Alpha Luca was on his way and with the footsteps I hear I can only imagine it was Fin coming down. And yes it was, but with Jaxon at his side.

"Does he know about the kids?" he asked me as he kissed the top of my head and I told him the truth, I told him no because If he isn't our father I don't want him knowing about our children but if he is and he wants to be in our lives then I would gladly let him meet them and be apart of it if he wanted to be. The trust won't come easily where everyone is concerned as we have been burned before physically and systematically speaking but I want to hope that everything will work out for the greater good.

As the time for the time drew closer, I made my way to the pack house doors with Finley and we sat outside on the wall just talking and laughing. The pack members greeted me with smiles and nods as they walked past us. I was their Luna, their leader, and they respected me which is something I never expected. Before I could say anything else me and Finley was welcomes with a hug from Katherine and the girls, Luca stayed back a bit but I understood why. He probably doesn't want the hassle of more kids anyway. The joke inside me laughed but the face I am probably making right now Only tells me I have no hope in this what so ever.

"Good morning, Luna, Morning Finley" they all said after each other which made us both smile. "Good morning, Please, follow us"

I took my seat at the table, feeling a sense of pride and responsibility wash over me because they have come to our pack and I am proud that this pack has become my safe place. At the table was Me, Finley, Naomi, Jaxon, Robyn and Jacob because we asked them to be here. Even though I was the Luna of the pack, I think having a sense of happiness to have my soon to be in-laws here is worth it as they have been there for both me and Finns ever since we arrived here just a little over a year ago. and I was ready to full-fill my duties and protect my pack with all I had.

Alpha Luca cleared his throat, signalling for everyone's attention. "As you all know, the DNA test results have come back today. We haven't opened them, we wanted to do it with both of you here and I would be honoured for someone who isn't one of us to open them" All eyes look over at everyone and Robyn is quick to speak, "I can do it if you like." she says while smiling at everyone. I was thankful she was here my nerves were all over the place and I was too scared to know the truth if I'm going to be 100% honest. I know that Alana had told Blaze this because Jaxon was quick to put a hand on my thigh and give it a reassuring squeeze. Not settling anything but knowing her was here was good enough for me. The room was filled with a palpable tension as everyone waited with bated breath. I could feel my heart beating faster and faster, Robyn had started reading the letter and when she looked up she looked quite sad. Sadness was something she wasn't so when she passed the slip of paper over to Jaxon and not me I knew for sure that my mother had lied and I just wanted to curse her of all the shitty things she had done.

"Es...Fin" He says with his serious face on, "Meet your father." As soon as he said those words my whole world literally fell apart in emotions I had been carrying around all morning, I looked back at Finley who showed the tears in his eyes that we had met the man who didn't know we existed and I couldn't believe what he had just said. Jaxon passed the letter over to Alpha Luca and shook his hand before giving me a hug. A mix of emotions flooded through me - excitement at the news, nervousness at what's going to happen now, and a feeling of disbelief that our father is sat in our home, our pack.

"So what happens now Alpha Luca?" I asked. "First of all, Please just call me Luca, I don't want to rush anything with you both and it will only go as fast or slow as you want it, but I would like to be involved with your life if you would let us"

I looked to Finley who had looked to me at the same time and I knew what he was thinking, I could feel his emotions radiating from him all the way from over here. In unison we both said "That would be good" which earnt a lot of laughter at the table. I had a family I didn't even know about. Absolutely mad.

"In that case then Luca, I would like to show you something if you are planning to stick around with us" I said gesturing towards Jaxon who knew what I was doing.

"Of course."

"Would any of you like some drinks?" Robyn said with tears in her eyes while side hugging Finley, Naomi was right there with him as well.

after a few minutes of changing both babies me and heading back to the room Jaxon turns to me and his face is soft, Warm and happy. "I'm so proud of you princess. It's been tough for you and I have never seen you so anxious and proud of anything. You did so well" He says as he gives me a quick kiss. "You two have a room for shit like that you know" Finley says while walking towards us. We break apart but I get a small slap on my bum from Jaxon as we head back to the table where everyone is waiting.

"Luca, Katherine, I would like you to meet your grandson and your granddaughter, Reggie and Delilah" I say as we sit back down, both children sitting with us and Luca gets up to round the table and asks if he can hold one of them. I'm quick to say yes and Katherine does the same. This gave me a chance to officially say hello to my sisters who actually pounce on me in a big ass hug.

"It's nice to officially call you both family." Jessica said.

"I'm glad I have met you now" We hear a crash coming from out side and I notice that it's Charlie who has come with the drinks but he has a look on his face that I have never seen before. He steps into the office and I see him stare point blank at Rosie and then murmurs the words I never expected to hear from him.

"Mate" he says which makes both me and Jaxon stare at each other completely dumb founded. because she repeats his exact words back to him.

"Okay...so this nice family reunion is also a mating meet" Jax laughs and has everyone else chuckling too.
