Esme's POV
As the wheels of our car rolled along the highway, heading the short distance back to our lands which I have actually missed. I have so missed the pack members and I want to hear all about Charlies new mate and how our father handled all of that afterwards. Even though I have missed all of that and also the planning for most of our pack to attend thee mating ball, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness that our honeymoon was coming to an end. Jaxon, my beloved husband, reached over and took my hand, his warm touch grounding me in the present moment.
"Don't be sad, princess, we have had a good time and hey...I can show you a few things in bed tonight if you like" he whispered. Always got his head in the gutter...can't blame him though because right now...so do I.
I smiled, but a bittersweet feeling which lingered in me because I wanted to stay there even though I also want to go home. Our week in the hotel had been a combination of exploring and buying gifts for the family and then the passion, a respite from the whirlwind of our lives as parents to our precious kids. We had spent countless hours in our room, lost in each other's embrace, and explored the vibrant city, hand in hand and yes I am bragging and droning on and on about it all but I can't help it. It was pure bliss.
Now, it was time to return to reality and prepare for the annual ball that would be held at my father's pack land. As an Alpha's daughter, (Frequent news) I had a duty to attend with Jaxon and even though our pack was also going to this ball I couldn't help but feel the excitement of our single, Mateless members hopefully finding their mates and beginning their life and adventures unless your name is hunter and you want one-night-stands and to not remember their names by dawn then yeah it's all good, but the thought of leaving our honeymoon paradise filled me with a sense of dread.
"I know," I said to Jaxon. "But I just don't want to go back to the hustle and bustle of everyday life yet but I guess it is what needs to be done" I said with a slight smile tugging at my mouth. I haven't felt so chilled out in so long. We had massages and a spa day where I got my nails and hair done. My hair which used to sit just above my bum when let down now sits just past my shoulders and has not irritated me since having it cut which is bliss too.
"I understand," he said. "But we'll get through it together. Besides, the ball is a chance for us to show off our love to the world but don't get too cheesy on me okay."
I laughed softly. 'I suppose you're right. It's not every day that there is a mating ball held so this is our only chance boss" I said with a good salute which earned me a huge grin from my Alpha man over here. "Your too cheeky for your own good you are. what are we going to do with you?" He asks while sliding his hand in between my thighs and pulling them apart a little. I wouldn't mind any other day but we had literally left the hotel after having bow-Chika-wow-wa before hand.
As we continued our drive, I couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had being our wedding and everything in between. The city fading into the back of us now and approaching our lands, I don't know about you but I love knowing that I am only a few miles away from seeing the familiarity of home and the people waiting for us there. Jaxon and I had met at the waterside pack on shitty circumstances and even with everything going on there, he never once gave up on me and he sure as hell didn't need to bring my brother along too but he did and that's the sort of man he is and I will be forever grateful for him by my side and not only that but our connection had been undeniable when I finally met him properly. We had fallen deeply in love, and within a year, we were married and had two precious children.
Our children, had brought us immeasurable joy, even with the sleepless nights and endless responsibilities, I wouldn't change anything. Yeah sometimes, me and Jaxon butted heads because we was tired and we could sometimes snap at each other through irritation of something we always enjoyed our time together when we did and I guess that is the responsibility you have when you have children, even if you had only the one it is still hard and yes I know...before you all cry at me...I know that If you have unprotected sex then your going to end up pregnant, but I still wouldn't change anything about it all.
That's why this honeymoon had been so important. It had given us the chance to reconnect and rediscover the passion that had brought us together in the first place.
As we pulled into our driveway, I felt a mix of emotions. I was excited to see our children, but I was also sad to leave behind the sanctuary we had created on our week away.
"Well, here we are," I said to Jaxon, swinging my seatbelt off and hopping out of the door, rushing to the front door where everyone of our family members stood greeting us both, Hugs all round and smiles from our little monkeys who looks like they have grown a lot in the last week! 'Home sweet home.' I whisper to Jax as we stand in the doorway each holding a child, Delilah obviously a daddy's girl went straight to him and my little man sticking his arms out for me wanting his mamma...making me feel loved and missed at the same time.
He leaned over and kissed me tenderly. "I'm so grateful for this week, Esme. It's been perfect."
I smiled back at him. "Me too, my love, Me too."
As we sat down in the living room, I couldn't help but notice the stack of invitations on the coffee table. They were all for the annual ball, and I sighed as I realized that I would have to start preparing for the event because who remembers what everyday life is like when you spend a week away from it? I sure didn't enjoy seeing that and also the bills which were placed on the table because we forgot to give our packs bank details over for them to pay and oopss...we switched our phones off too.
"I guess we should start thinking about what we're going to wear," I said to Jaxon and also the others sitting by me, the ball was in 4 days which is why we went away before hand. My only problem is that Alpha Dylan Langley's pack has been taking drastic action to get their pack and their lands back on track, repairing their houses and anything that got damaged when the rogues hit and ruined and I know that they will be their. Jaxon never retreated the treaty with them so they do still have it and as far as I know they haven't had any ceremony for Adeline yet, if they are still together that is.
He chuckled. "I think we can handle it. After all, we're the most stylish couple in the pack." he mentions while grinning at everyone their.
"Alright you two, enough with the flirty, flirty. It's been bliss around here don't ruin it" Jacob says which gets a slap from his wife. His hand to his chest, Jacob pretends she hurt him quite badly but only ends up laughing. comical is what they are.
I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder. "I wouldn't have it any other way. And Jacob, you can't say anything. I saw you the morning we went away trying to get lucky at the baking table" I say with a grin and sipping my coffee Robyn made me. He must of remembered because he stands up, laughs and ruffles my hair which he has only just noticed has been cut.
"Short hair looks lovely on you sweety." he says as he passes me laughing to himself.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the room, I knew that our honeymoon might be over, but our love story was just beginning. And with Jaxon by my side, I was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
