You get into place within the spectators' stands above the court. You looked down, watching as the team walked onto the court with the coach, Takeda, and Kiyoko. You take a seat beside the railing, wanting to make sure you'd be able to see everything for this match.
"Y/n-chan?"
You turn to face Oikawa, smiling at him. "Oh, hi, Oikawa-san."
"What are you doing up here by yourself?"
"I couldn't be with the rest of the team on the court, so I'm watching the match from here."
He pouts, stepping closer to you. "That's a real shame. If you were my manager, I'd keep you as close as possible."
You chuckle. "Well, Kiyoko-san has been the manager longer than I have. She has more of a right to stick close to the team, than I do."
Oikawa takes a seat in the chair beside you. "I guess that makes sense. But it must be so lonely to sit up here by yourself."
You shrug. "A little. But, at least I've got a good view of the court."
Oikawa looks down at the court, observing the Karasuno team. "Huh. There are two more guys on Karasuno than were there during the practice match. Looks like they've actually got an ace and a libero now."
You nod, beaming with pride. "Yeah, they were on the team originally, but some things happened and they almost didn't want to come back to the team. I ended up talking with them and brought them back."
He looks at you, eyes wide. "Really? You must be a miracle worker, Y/n-chan."
"Not really. I just did what I could to help all the guys on the team."
He smiles, not taking his eyes off of you. "You must really care about this team."
"I haven't known them long, but I like helping them out. And I managed to get along with all of them right away."
Oikawa stands up, getting ready to leave you. "That's great. I'd love to stay with you longer, but my team needs me. Hopefully, I'll see you later?"
You turn to look at him, smiling. "Sure. It was good seeing you again, Oikawa-san."
"Good seeing you again, Y/n-chan. Bye bye!" He walks off, disappearing into the crowd.
You turn back to the court, waving at some of the guys when you saw them looking up at you. You smile, proud to see the guys so amped up for this match. You prayed they'd win.
Meanwhile, on the court, the guys were unhappy about something they saw.
Tanaka narrowed his eyes. "Why was Oikawa with Y/n?"
Sugawara sighed. "I don't know, but I've got a bad feeling."
Daichi looked over at the third year setter. "Don't pay it any mind right now, Suga. We can hear about it from L/n later. Just focus on the match, all of you."
Kageyama frowned. "I don't trust Oikawa talking with her. Who knows what he's said. He shouldn't be trusted."
Hinata nodded, agreeing with his setter. "What if he said something bad about us to Y/n-senpai? Shouldn't we be protecting her from him?"
Sugawara worried about this more. "I don't know if he'd say something about us, but I know he's the type that will try asking any girl on a date. And he doesn't exactly have a record of rejection."
Nishinoya glared, glancing up to where you were. "No way is that pretty boy getting a date with our Y/n-chan."
Sugawara looked at the ground. "I hope you're right, Nishinoya."
He knew you didn't exactly have any interests in relationships. But who knows when you might change your mind. Sugawara didn't know exactly what happened whenever you were left alone with Oikawa. And that worried the silver haired boy.
But there wasn't enough time to think about all the possibilities. The match soon started and all the boys on the team had to give all their focus and energy to the game in front of them.
You watched intently, eyes focused on every movement the guys made. You knew a little about volleyball, more than enough to be able to know what was going on and come up with plans that could improve the way the team plays. Back in middle school, you'd watch volleyball with Sugawara. And you learned a lot about the game.
From where you sat, you could imagine different scenarios in which the team plays. You were being hopeful and tried coming up with ways in which the team could win. And, luckily for you, they were playing well. They were already in the lead, taking the first set for themselves. The guys seemed happy, still giving it everything they've got to win the next set.
The other team wasn't weak, though. They were fighting back well and ended up taking the second set.
The boys on your team didn't seem to like losing that set. They became more determined to win the third and final set.
Your eyes watched as your team ended up winning the final set. You cheered in the crowd, gaining attention form some of the other people around you. You felt eyes on you and tried making yourself smaller than you were. You look down at the court, watching as the team cheered for their victory.
You smile, proud of all of them. But a sense of sadness took over you as you remembered that Sugawara hadn't been on the court for that entire match. You look over at your childhood friend, seeing him cheer along with the others.
He didn't seem sad, but deep down he was disappointed that he hadn't been the setter at all during the match.
And you knew how he felt. You walk out of the stands, walking outside of the arena and into the other section of the building.
