When you and Sugawara arrive at the gym, you two notice everyone else there waiting for you.
Nishinoya turns to you. "Y/n-chan! Why'd you leave the stadium with Oikawa yesterday?"
You look away. "I wanted to be alone, but Oikawa-san insisted on sticking with me."
Kageyama narrowed his eyes at you. "Be careful of Oikawa. He was my senpai in middle school and he wasn't nice. He might try something with you if you aren't careful."
You nod, looking at the younger boy. "Don't worry about me. I can handle myself."
Sugawara raises a brow at you. "This coming from the girl that tripped and scraped up both of her knees?"
"I thought we agreed never to speak of that again."
Coach Ukai gathers everyone's attention, clapping a few times until all eyes were on him. "Ok, everyone. Let's get on the bus. We'll be playing against Datekyo today. We need to focus all our energy on this game. I know last time you guys played them, you lost."
You noticed the second and third years tense up. "Uh, coach, that might've been the best thing to bring up at the moment. It's still a bit of a sensitive topic for a few of the players."
He gives you a look, noticing how some of the guys reacted. "Right, sorry. Today, we won't lose. We'll beat them and move on to win the rest of our matches. We're going to the inter-high!"
All the guys cheered in agreement. They were all pumped up, confident they would win this time.
You grabbed onto Sugawara's arm, causing him to look at you.
"Y/n?"
You look at the ground, feeling shy. "Good luck."
He smiles at you, feeling more confident about how this game would go. "Thanks, Y/n. It means much more to have you say something." He walks away from you, getting on the bus with the rest of the team.
Kiyoko walks over to you, grabbing your hand. "Ready to go, Y/n?"
You nod, smiling at her. "Yeah, I'm ready to watch these guys win."
You two get onto the bus, sitting beside each other. Kiyoko kept talking about what she was expecting for this match. You told her you would keep an eye on things from above, promising to text her if you see a new way you guys can overcome any obstacles to win.
Coach had overheard you, speaking loud enough for the entire team to hear. "Thank you, Y/n. We're all counting on you to be our eyes in the sky."
All the guys shouted their own agreements, making you shrink down in your seat. You felt a little embarrassed. You hoped that you'd be able to give your full attention to the game. You prayed Oikawa wouldn't find you today to distract you. You also hoped that maybe, just maybe, Sugawara would be allowed to play in this match.
When the bus arrived at the stadium, you all got out and grouped up outside the bus. You stood by Kiyoko, yet your eyes were glued to Sugawara. You watched as he talked with Daichi and Asahi.
"You two better win today, or I'm hitting you both."
Asahi had a bead of sweat roll down his face. "I don't like that you said that with a smile, Suga."
Daichi shook his head, smiling. "Don't worry, Suga. We'll all be winning today. There's no way we can lose."
Sugawara smiled, briefly glancing at you. "Y/n's gonna be working hard, even though she'll be in the stands. I don't want to disappoint her with a loss."
Daichi grinned. "Maybe you should ask her out when we win."
The boy thought back to the conversation in your kitchen, face turning red. "No way!"
Daichi and Asahi laugh, enjoying Sugawara's expression.
You see the silver haired boy's face red, concern racing through you. You walk over to the three third years. "Is everything alright?"
Sugawara looks at you, his face still red. "Yeah, don't worry about me, Y/n."
You blink. "Ok. Come on, we're all heading inside now."
They nod, following you as you begin to walk toward the building. You look away from the team when your name gets called.
Oikawa appeared, walking over to you and team. "Hey, Y/n-chan! How are you this morning?"
You give him a small smile, feeling a little uncomfortable with the fact that he approached you in front of the team. "Good. You?"
"Oh, I'm doing just fine. I slept great after our date. And if you need someone to walk you home again, I'd be more than happy to accompany on your walk."
The team visibly angered at his words.
You felt a drop of sweat roll down your face. "Thanks for the offer, but I'll taking the bus with my team today."
Oikawa gives a playful pout. "Aww, but I wanted to spend some more time with you. I didn't even get the chance to hug you yesterday. I was hoping today would be different."
You glance at the team, seeing Sugawara about to blow a fuse. "Haha, maybe some other time. I kinda have to go with the team to get ready for our match today."
The brunette smiles at you. "Oh well. Maybe next time. See ya, Y/n-chan." He sends a wink your way before walking off.
You hit your forehead with the palm of your hand. "Why did he have to do that in front of everyone?"
Sugawara glared at the back of his head as he continued walking away. "He tries that again and I'm fight him."
