[ i won't let anyone hurt her ]

"your form breaks easily."
by form, [name] assumed zoro was talking about the stance that she took on when the wooden sword was in her hand.
"it does?"
the moss-haired swordsman nodded, throwing a towel around his neck as he took a seat, "it's the foundation of handling a sword. when your form breaks, you're open to attack from all sides. there are five types of stances: jōdan, chūdan, gedan, hassō and waki. you learn and master each one before moving on to the next, but you're already skipping ahead four steps and performing waki! do you know how reckless you can be?!"
[name] casually rubbed the back of her head as he scolded her, not quite understanding much of what he said. "i get that a lot."
"then it's about time you started working on it! with your stupid strength, any sword you take on will break apart! you have to treat your blades with care!"
with care?
"so what you're saying is that...your sword is like your baby?"
he irked, "what kind of interpretation is that?!"
"that's what i understood..."
zoro felt like slapping himself - he was beginning to question why he even accepted her as a student. she clearly needs to go to school first, she couldn't even count! "this idiot – yeah, okay, at least you understand somewhat! look at your wooden sword, it's all battered up because of your reckless attacks. learn to hold back a little."
[name] looked at the wooden sword in her hand and looked closely. like he said, it was all scratched up - on the verge of breaking apart and snapping in two from her reckless attacks from their bout earlier.
even her grip was so tight that cracks were formed on the hilt.
if it was a real sword in her hand, she might crush it herself before she could even use it...
"hold back a little...got it."
she was dismissed soon afterwards. climbing down from the crow's nest with the ladder, she replayed her swordsman master's words in her head. he said something about the forms, right? he probably wouldn't even explain what each one would be like, he didn't have that much patience with her after all.
jōdan, chūdan, gedan, hassō and waki...that's what he said.
"up early, sparkles?!"
franky greeted her as she casually walked past the observation room, snapping [name] away from her thoughts momentarily. she glanced over at him, watching him do some repairs around the ship (zoro and sanji damaged it earlier in the morning over another silly fight).
