chapter 59. onwards to tartarus

luffy's voice bounced off the walls as he sauntered confidently into the palace, his rubber hand waving hello to his crewmates. zoro and sanji followed after him, but something was wrong...where were the treasure sacks that caribou had stumbled away with after he woke up with a bloody disfigured face?
"i gave them away."
"excuse me?!" nami grabbed luffy by the collar and started shaking the noncholant captain aggressively, "why would you give them away and who was it that took our treasures away?! luffy! we're already broke as shit and you gave away our money as if we opened up a charity!"
"there's no other choice!"
"who was it, luffy?!"
"i had to give it to someone called big mom!"
nami's blank look on her face was enough to show puzzlement. both her and robin stared at luffy with wide eyes, unwilling to register what he had just mentioned to them all. it didn't take long for idiots to grasp of what was bound to happen; the minister of right mentioned a bomb inside the treasure a few minutes ago, and naturally, everyone understood that the bomb was now in big mom's hands.
"she was about to destroy the island that we worked so hard to save!" luffy pouted, "she's crazy, you know! talking about sweets here and there! i would fight her and kick her ass if she dares to lay a finger on this island!"
he was admirable, albeit stupid.
usopp gaped at them. "big mom..?"
"apparently her flag was on the sweets factory. it's meant to be a protection to replace whitebeard. in exchange for her protection, they must supply candies to her every month." sanji took a puff of his cigarette. "since our captain ate all of the candies and they couldn't produce more, big mom is slightly upset, i suppose. so the only thing we can give away is the treasure."
"...big mom?"
"you idiot!" nami hit his head, "we haven't even saved [name] yet, and you're already talking about taking down a yonko?! are you crazy?"
robin closed her eyes calmly, "big mom is one of the emperors of the sea, and if the treasure is going to get to her hands with the bomb..."
