"binkusu no sake wo, todoke ni yuku yo..."
the soft hum drifted through the little house like sunlight spilling across a wooden floor.
luna blinked.
for a two-year-old, she remembered many things surprisingly well. emma always said the women of the antheana family were blessed with frightening memories, and even now, tiny luna could recall countless moments with crystal clarity.
which was exactly why she knew something was strange.
she had never heard this song before.
sitting on the floor with her favorite blanket bundled around her shoulders like her own scarf, luna slowly tilted her head upward.

"up we go!"
"wah!"
luna squeaked as she was suddenly airborne.
a second later she was deposited safely onto her mother's lap, tiny legs dangling uselessly while emma wrapped both arms around her and buried her face against luna's cheek.
"squish!"
"mamaaa!"
"look at this face!" emma gasped dramatically. "how did i make something so cute?!"
"mama made luna!"
"that's right!"
"wow!"
"wow indeed!"
emma grinned, "well! this song is called bink's sake! your mama used to sing it all the time when she was a big scary pirate!"
