chapter 70. centaurs and...dragons?

[ this island is as hazardous as the name suggests... ]

[name] must say, they had only landed in the new world...and things were already so chaotic.

first of all...why, exactly, was that island on fire?

not just mildly on fire, either. it was violently on fire. the entire horizon glowed an angry orange, thick smoke curling into the sky while thunder cracked across the clouds like the weather itself had chosen violence that day.

the sea was rough, and the sky was worse.

and the strangest part?

none of the three needles on nami's brand-new log pose pointed toward it.

which meant, logically speaking, that island should not even be on their route...and yet it was right there.

burning.

like it was begging for trouble.

secondly, luffy had already announced his identity to the entire world through a den-den mushi that had rung with some kind of emergency signal (that was not strange though, typical captain behaviour.)

thirdly—and perhaps most confusing of all—some mysterious voice claiming to be a samurai had begged for help from a place called punk hazard.

which, according to the emergency signal...

was probably that flaming island.

so now the entire crew had gathered inside the kitchen, trying to make sense of the chaos while the baby den-den mushi sat on the table like an innocent witness.

zoro leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, "he said samurai, brook."

brook nodded solemnly, "yes indeed. it must be one of those samurai," the skeleton explained thoughtfully. "that is the title given to the swordsmen of the wano kingdom."

usopp blinked, "wait... samurai like... actual samurai?"

"precisely," brook continued. "wano is an extremely isolated nation. they never allow outsiders to enter, and they maintain no ties whatsoever with the world government."

franky whistled, "seriously?"

brook nodded again, "it is said the warriors there are incredibly powerful. the marines themselves avoid interfering with them whenever possible."
