Two Years Later.
I admire how beautiful my wife is as she completes whisking the chocolate cake batter. I am always so struck by how gorgeous she is. I'm leaning on the counter with my chin resting on my hand as I stare at her, dumbfound by her beauty.
At midnight it will be her and Orion's birthday. Every year, she makes him a chocolate cake and I help her of course. It's a tradition she started when he was old enough to eat it, which was when he was around two or three years old. I like it because it reminds me of the tradition that I have with my papa, where we bake mamma a cake for her birthday. It's actually a tradition I have carried on with Orion. Tomorrow will be the second year we bake her a cake for her special day.
Catalina puts the cake in the oven while I prepare the filling, and she eats some strawberries while feeding me some. When the chocolate cake has cooled from baking, she stacks the two pieces of chocolate cake with the filling in the middle. I turn off the mixer, finishing whipping the chocolate icing that will cover the dessert.
I take Cata's place, and I'm the one to cover the cake with icing until it's even and smooth. When I have finished, my wife drips melted chocolate along the top edge of the cake. She then uses the icing to create some swirl designs, and I add some strawberries and chocolate curls on top for decoration.
Finally, I help put the cake in the refrigerator to rest. Catalina is yawning when I turn around to look at her. A huge smile forms on my lips when I glance at my watch. I immediately approach my beautiful wife and gently pull her into my arms to embrace her. She tiredly hugs me back and through sleepy eyes looks at me.
"Happy birthday, my sweet Catalina." I give her a kiss on her forehead, cheeks, and then her lips.
There is a look of realization in her gorgeous eyes. It is midnight. It's her birthday.
"Thank you, amor." She gives me a tired smile and returns the exact kisses I gave her.
I pick her up in my arms with ease, taking her by surprise. "Beautiful, it's time to go to bed. There is a lot waiting for you in the morning."
"Really?" There is excitement in her drowsy eyes at my words.
With her arms around my neck and a kiss to my cheek, I begin to take her to our bedroom. "Really."

Orion finishes decorating the cake with small flowers. We woke up early to bake the cake for his mother. We will be having guests over tonight so both cakes will be eaten. However, it was a bit hard to keep him away from the refrigerator so that he wouldn't see the cake Cata and I baked him last night. I kept him a bit distracted by asking him to help with all the flowers and hydrangeas throughout the house while I finished his mother's cake. The gifts I got both of them also arrived early in the morning. The place is neat and decorated for their special day. A day that is also so special to me.
