Chapter 44: Miss Me

"What do you mean he's gone!?" Tails shouts, audibly distressed by the news.

"We got here and Mangey found his phone on the floor, he wasn't here when we got here" Nine explains.

Tails squeezes his fists, Mangey sees Tails losing his cool and gives him a hug, though it surprised him, Tails welcomes it and wraps his arms around Mangey.

"Thanks" Tails says while sniffling.

Mangey barks and nuzzles Tails' face in an effort to cheer him up.

"I'll check the security desk and see if the camera outfront caught what happened" Nine says.

"Okay" Tails says as he holds Mangey close.

When Nine walks off to the security office, Mangey licks Tails face, hoping to get a smile out of him, Tails moans quietly as Mangey continue to lick him lovingly.

"Thanks Mangey... I know you're trying to help me feel better..." Tails responds, kissing him on the face.

The two hug eachother and while they do, Tails tries to take his mind off the fact Sonic is missing by thinking about something that made him love him... A special moment.

It's sometime before Sonic and Tails visited Earth, Eggman is still active and plotting to take over Mobius and strip it of it's natural resources to power his machines, the team is in the heat of battle, fighting one of his newest creations... A robot that can manipulate electricity.

Knuckles and Sonic are sent tumbling into the ground by a bolt of electricity, Amy and Rouge can barely stand as is and Tails is up against a rock having been nearly paralyzed minutes prior. He wants to get up and fight, but his body can barely muster the energy to move.

"Hahaha! I've done it! I've finally crushed you rodent!" Robotnik shouts as he looks down at the struggling team on the ground in front of him.

"Hah... Not a chance!" Sonic says, picking himself up from off the ground, shaking intensely.

Eggman smirks, "Looking for one more round I see... Don't worry, this should take care of you!"

The robot powers up an electric energy blast, and it grows ever so bigger... Before it fires though, it sets its sights on Tails who realises almost immediately he's being targeted, the little fox's heart beats faster, he's about to be incinerated, the robot fires the energy blast and it hurdles towards Tail whos eyes go wide as the ball closes in on him.

An explosion follows and Tails waits... And waits... But nothing happens to him. Then the fox sees it, Sonic is standing there, barely able to stand, having shielded Tails from the impact of the blast. The fox can't say anything because he's in so much pain, but if he could say something, he'd have just confessed to Sonic much earlier how much he loved him.

"It's okay... It's okay Tails... I'll show him who's boss, I'll show him what a hero... ngh can really do!" Sonic says weakly.

When Eggman sees Sonic survived the attack he panics, "What?! Fire again!"

The robot begins to charge up another attack, so Sonic begins to crackle and blue electricity envelopes his body, then he takes off towards the robot shouting loudly as he makes impact with it.

After that, the machine was destroyed and Robotnik was on the run yet again, off to scheme another day. Silver and Blaze came to their rescue and gave them antidotes for paralysis and other electricity related injuries. While they're recovering at base, a bandaged up Tails visits Sonic in the medical bay the fox sees Sonic is asleep so he smiles and kisses him on the face.
