"This was not the costumes I was thinking," Will said, staring cautiously at the leather and fur in front of him.
"Lee would have a blast in here," Obasi laughed. "He used to dress up in plays in the medieval times."
"Please don't," Justin rubbed his face. "We can only traumatize so many people in a day."
"Are you uncomfortable?" Cameron asked. "We don't have to stay here if you are." They didn't know much about this group, but they could tell that Justin was a bit shy when it came to this stuff. It was a normal reaction. They just really didn't want to push him too far. That wasn't what this department was about at all, especially if this wasn't completely asked for. Sometimes learning this stuff was best done slowly rather than all at once.
"Not by you," Justin shook his head. "I'm just hoping Benny and Will don't get any ideas from all of this."
"Ooo!" Will held up another outfit. "This looks like a mascot suit!" Then he looked at Cameron. "Do you guys have sports teams?"
"Not exactly," Cameron tried their hardest not to laugh. Explaining this section might take a while. "Perhaps I should explain the rest later."
"I'm not going to be here when you do," Justin mumbled, still hiding his face. He probably knew more about this stuff than the rest there, which only made it more embarrassing.
"Hey," A girl's voice came from in front of him. Justin moved his hands to see a cupid looking straight at him, her dark red eyes soft like cake batter. "You don't have to be here if you don't want to, you know. We don't want you to be uncomfortable."
"Who are you?" He asked.
"The name's Velvet," She went to shake his hand. "It used to be Victor before I transitioned. I was going to try and teach you about that, but you look over stimulated. Do you want some tea?"
"Uh, sure," he said. Velvet even had dark red hair with pearl jewelry. She looked like red velvet cake. It was beautiful.
He wasn't too surprised by her talking about transitioning. There were quite a lot of anticupids who transitioned. It was easier here, since they could alter their appearances so easily. Justin was more surprised that she was just dragging him out of the are, over to the tiny kitchenette they had.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Justin!" Benny said. The rest of them were following as well. "We didn't want to upset you!"
"It's okay," he assured them. "I'm fine."
"I think it's best to take a break anyway," Cameron told them. "Thanks for the help, Velvet."
"Oh, it's no problem! This is our job after all," She handed some tea to Justin. "I think it might be best to just get to know each other first, though, sweety."
"Don't worry about it," Justin said. "We need to move onto the real reason we're here anyway."
"That's probably the best idea," Will said, sitting on the couch that was there. "What do both of you know about Melvin?"
"That man is the sweetest little gum drop unless he's mad," Velvet said. "He's a Dom and a Mother Hen at the same. If anything happens to one of his baby chicks, he'll raise hell."
"Anton counts as one of his chicklings," Benny asked. "Doesn't he?"
"Yes," Cameron answered that time. "They've been friends for a while. Anton isn't into all of this stuff, but they get along really well."
Cameron was proud of how far Melvin had come. They had been helping him since he was sixteen. It wasn't the smoothest progress, but they were able to get him a support group, he started to work on accepting himself.
